Organic growth is growth that is generated by the company itself through its own efforts, as opposed to buying the growth. For example, if you are the first to offer wireless Internet service in an area that you setup using your own capital, then you have grown organically. In contrast, if you go to an area and buy an existing provider, you have grown through acquisition. In most industries organic growth is financed by cash flow or limited debt, whereas growth through acquisition requires higher debt loads or an equity offering. FSO is rock solid up to 500 meters or so, and very reliable in most cases up to a kilometer. If you need a vendor to help you with this, let me know. [WISPA] WISP Going Out of Business Sale
I will be posting this on several lists, so please forgive the cross posts. I have ten customers located in northern Johnson County Texas between Burleson and Alvarado that need a service provider. I have been providing Internet service to them for the past two years, but this is not my main business. As such it has become more trouble than it is worth. I had heard that the Sprint service was slow from other users. What is the best way to buy the hardware and monthly service for this? Is the Sprint website the only source? While we are talking about wireless cameras I have a question related to this. I need a camera at my front gate so I can see who is there. The problem is the gate is 1/4 mile from the house. About half of this distance is through a stand of oak trees. Do you think any of these cameras would punch through that amount of tree cover? The camera and the receiver for it would be have to mounted right at the height of the thickest part of the trees. Noise level is ok, but there is no under the trees due to the undergrowth. I had a tower get struck, directly and lost everything...including the switch at the location. Since then, I figured 3mil volts can go through thin cat5e jacketing. Even through the shielding if it isn't properly grounded. Now I soldier the casings onto the crimp on ends when possible so hopefully it will go to ground without hitting the copper inside. I use the Hyperlink surge protection, and the keystone jacks are for shielded cabling, so it goes to ground. The surge suppression is just added protection. Remember, electricity takes the least path of resistance, when metal heats up, it becomes more resistant. So that bolt of lightning can go where it wants... That said, I am giving the electricity 2 points to exit to ground, so hopefully I don't lose any more equipment. The tower is WELL grounded, it is an old ATT sight, with the copper mesh in the ground, and all buildings and towers have copper 5/8 or larger going up the sides and cad welded to them and also to the grid below ground. LOTS of money... I don't at the CPE, just use the built-in surge suppression and definitely ground the CPE for static. I see it as if the house gets struck by lightning; they have more to worry about than internet... Now if a tower gets struck, I have hundreds down, not 1.
