[WISPA] Selling network

2011-07-26 Thread Liam Cummings
We have decided to sell a portion of our network because our business
has recently gone in a different direction and it is too far away for us
to service any longer. It is roughly 15x22 square miles in size and is
located mostly in Preble County Ohio and the surrounding areas. It
consists of 5 tower sites with all Ubiquiti equipment. If any one is
interested please send me a direct email at

Subject: [WISPA] Remote monitoring/ remote reboot

Hello,

We've been working on building a remote monitoring/remote reboot
board for awhile now, mostly for internal use. It runs on 9.5-55v, so we
are going to be using it at some of our solar sites to monitor battery
voltage and send alerts if they aren't charging, as well as the
capability to remotely reboot radios. Oh, and it keeps track of
temperature and turns a fan on if it gets too warm/ sends alerts at high
enough temps.

Anyway, we've got a couple out there, and we want to make another
fifteen. However, it looks like it'll be WAY cheaper if we order 100...
so we were wondering if anyone else would be interested in buying some.
I think it'll be around $100 in quantity. If anyone is interested, I can
send the data sheet and screencaps of the web interface.

Thanks!

Kevin

[WISPA] charge controller

2010-11-22 Thread Liam Cummings
We are implementing battery power at some of our tower sites and are
looking for a charge controller that will handle battery power for all
our equipment on the towers and provide these options.

- Remote Management

- Email notification

- battery power monitoring

- auto power switching

I'm looking at tycon but they do not have these options available.

Basically just want something to handle the backup batteries with no
interruptions in power and notify us when the tower is running on
battery power. Also if possible allow for remote on/off of power to the
equipment on the tower.

Can anyone make a few suggestions for some manufactures to look into?

Oh yeah and it needs to be cheap too. I want to start using something
like this for our site surveys because it would be much easier than
getting out the telescoping pole we use and having someone hold it
steady with a radio on it. I was thinking of just making one myself but

2010-08-02 Thread Liam Cummings
I'm looking for a good contract to use for exclusive use of someone's

[WISPA] Found a spot

Ok I think I found a location to start providing services. Should I be
concerned that a large isp is close by and could be in this area with in a
couple of years?

I service an area with multiple isp's wisps as well as Comcast and
ATT. The key is to differentiate yourself. It could be service or
faster upload speeds or just a local business. Don't fear competition.

Re: [WISPA] New WISP

2010-04-27 Thread Liam Cummings
That's what I say. I just don't want to pay someone to write code when if I
spend a little time researching I can usually find a product that already does
what I need. We already provide network monitoring and other services of this
type to clients so shouldn't be a problem on the wisp side of things. :)

Coding != networking :)

On 4/27/10, Larry Yunker leyun...@wispadvantage.com wrote:
For what it is worth... running a successful WISP will require a certain
level of technical expertise and probably a coder.

Anyone can throw up a simple access point with a tall antenna and connect it
to a LAN, but to grow and reach any sizeable market, you are going to need
someone that knows how to configure routing between access points and that
will look a lot like coding.

Additionally, you will learn that with most solutions, access control,
network monitoring and bandwidth management all require some coding.
Very few out-of-the-box solutions exist that provide for all of these
 aspects of WISP operation.

 Hi all,

We are a technologies solutions company located in Cincinnati and trying
to become a WISP. We are running into two road blocks.

1 - We need to choose software that doesn't need a coder to operate

2 - Choosing the right access points and other equipment

We would love to here your thoughts.

Any input would be much appreciated! :-)
