[WISPA] Rapid Link Executive to be Featured at Broadband Wireless World Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada

2008-06-16 Thread Mike Prachar
- Rapid Link's Lead Technologist to sit on WiMAX panel -

OMAHA, NE - June 16, 2008 - Rapid Link, Incorporated (OTCBB: RPID), a
leading provider of WiMAX and Communication Services, is pleased to
announce that Chief Technology Officer Matt Liotta is scheduled to speak
as part of the WiMAX Progress Report panel at the upcoming Broadband
Wireless World conference taking place June 18-19 at the Las Vegas
Convention Center.

WHO:Matt Liotta, Chief Technology Officer
WHEN: Wednesday, June 18, 2008
Track: WiMAX Progress Report
3:10 PM - 4:10 PM

WHERE: Las Vegas Convention Center
3150 Paradise Road
Las Vegas, NV 89119

WHAT: WiMAX Progress Report
Through Clearwire and Sprint Nextel, WiMax has captured
the U.S. market's attention as the next big thing in mobile broadband.
But how mature is the global WiMax ecosystem, and how is the technology
actually progressing in terms of carrier implementation and user takeup
here in the U.S.?

Mr. Liotta states, The term WiMAX has received lots of attention in the
industry, yet many people, including insiders, are unsure how it will
actually impact businesses in our space. This panel aims to clear up
some common misconceptions and bring everyone up to date on where the
technology really stands. Our real-word experience as a major provider
of commercial voice and internet service over WiMAX has given me
valuable insight into where WiMAX makes sense versus where it's simply a
buzzword. I am eager to share Rapid Link's findings with the conference
attendees.
NOTE TO PRESS: To book an interview with Rapid Link's CTO at the event,
please contact Rhea Topolski at 402-392-7525.

It is pretty normal for members of an organization to share PR with
others in the organization. Are you suggesting members should be
charged for sharing PR?

To turn the thread around... Maybe WISPA should think about doing its
own PR. Don't you think seeing, WISPA Member to be Featured at
Broadband Wireless World on the wires would get more people paying

First, you are not sharing PR with others in the organization.
This list is the PUBLIC list. And, no...I'm not suggesting members
should be charged with this. If you are doing this on the public
list, however, then this list is being used as an outlet for press
releases, which is not the function of WISPA for principle
membership. If you are a vendor member, or if I am out of line,
I'll be the first to apologize, but I see no evidence that you are a
vendor member. It is mainly the idea that Rapid is (apparently)
attempting to utilize this public list to provide information to the
general public (press release) and that seems out of line to me. I
don't speak for WISPA, either, so this is just my opinion. I see no
reason to blast 5-7 press releases per month to the member list if
the membership is interested in seeing it. Otherwise, it's (as I
said in the first place) just using WISPA's servers to send press
releases (which are indexed by the search engines) out to the
public. Perhaps this should be a member benefit...if so, $250 per
year is CHEAP for this number of press releases and should be
considered a GOOD DEAL by Rapid (and other WISPs).

Re: [WISPA] Rapid Link Executive to be Featured at Broadband Wireless World Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada

2008-06-16 Thread Matt Liotta
I'm not sure what your problem is exactly. The only reason we send PR
to the list is to share it with the organization. We don't receive any
search engine benefit since we already pay professional news
distribution companies to deliver our news to the public. See
http://news.google.com/news?hl=entab=wnq=%22rapid+link%22ie=UTF-8filter=0
. Even if there is some benefit I am missing I don't see why that is a
problem. What is WISPA if not for the benefit of its WISP members?

No that wasn't the content of the post. My suggestion was for WISPA to
ride on the coattails of its members' PR. But while your complaining
about advertising without any mention of WISPA you might want to check
your signature. A quick look reveals tangible Google Pagerank

Ahh. Let's take a quick look at the other portion of this stab.

1. I am a VENDOR member and paid for that benefit. And as soon as I
get the link to pay for the next year, I will be again this year.

2. Those posts (some of which are not the wispa list) are almost
entirely composed of information that is in direct answers to
questions posted on this list. (Other than those posts which came
as a benefit to my VENDOR MEMBER status, or were separately paid
prior to my joining as a vendor.)

3. I spent MANY hours of volunteer time in building the CALEA
Standard that will benefit not only WISPA and it's membership, but
ALL WISPs.

4. I spent over $1000 just recently for both ISPCON and the MUM that
did not directly benefit me, but was to benefit WISPA and help
announce the WISPA CALEA Standard. I did not have a booth at either
show.

5. My website has a link on EVERY PAGE back to WISPA's homepage, so
there is MUTUAL BENEFIT.

I am having a hard time seeing a parallel situation between us.
Again, if the membership sees no problem with your using these
servers for your announcements, then neither do I...It was, after
all just a question.

What benefit exactly? You seem to ignore the part where we pay more
than $250 per release to have our release issued by a professional
distribution company. You also seem to ignore that this is a free list
that we would have access whether we are a WISPA member or not.
Further, where was your outrage when other releases were shared with
the list? Its not like Rapid Link is the only WISPA member to have
ever sent a copy of our release to the free list.

Wow, you got us. All this time we haven't contributed a thing to the
industry and have managed to sucker WISPA into our own personal PR
machine for the small price of $250 per year.
