Re: [WISPA] Ubiquiti Bullet5-HP

2009-07-25 Thread Travis Johnson
Hi,

I received a couple of test Bullet5-M radios on Friday. I played with
them for about 15 minutes today, and here's the first bench test:

20mhz channel
-60 signal
55Mbps of actual UDP throughput

Very impressive. They are getting almost double what every other 802.11
based radio system is getting in the same spectrum. That would mean in a
5mhz channel you could get 15Mbps of actual traffic or the 40mhz
channel should really do 100Mbps. This was with a single antenna on each
side of the link, but they were only about 20ft away so the signal
quality was not at 100%. Will do more testing this week.

Re: [WISPA] Ubiquiti Bullet5-HP

2009-07-22 Thread os10rules
I just received an announcement from UBNT so it sounds like the new
Bullets are here and better than ever.

I'm helping a friend improve a tiny local WISP here in the sleepy
Amazonian frontier town of Puerto Ayacucho Venezuela. He's not a tech
at all and was really in need of some guidance. I'm a retired radio
officer and ham but I have to credit you guys on this forum for
teaching me the most important things I've passed along. Just using
2.4GHz APs running WDS worked great till sources of interference moved
in. Then he added amps to his APs but that only made matters worse.
The fellow here added a 5.8GHz backhaul using NS5's and it's working
great. We're dying to get our hands on the new Bullet5HP. 5.8GHz here
is still virgin territory for now.

Let us know how it goes... we have about 80 MT ptp links and love them

timing, small or large packet issues, etc.

I would like to know throughput using only a 20mhz channel, too.
