OK, speaking of google.

Lately (last few days maybe?) I've noticed that the links at the top and
bottom of the page take a few seconds longer to load than the search box
does.

Is this something that's happening on my site or is it everywhere?

It's been happening here for awhile. Actually if you drag your cursor

Re: [WISPA] Google is out of control.

2010-06-11 Thread Bradley D. Thornton
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: RIPEMD160

oic now.

I never go to http://google.com so I don't see that. I simply use the
google searchbox and then see the results page.

I also have installed a popup searchbox which I can invoke anytime by
typing, CTRL + CTRL.

That way, I don't even need to CTRL + T and then TAB to open a new
browser tab and place me in the google searchbox, one just pops up and I
enter my search terms and hit enter. A new tab then opens with the
search results.

One of the first things I disable in windows is the, fade effect. and
now it seems Google's doing that with their landing page, slowing things
up, or not showing the entire page until you move/hover the mouse over
some portion of that page.

The results pages, however, appear to be the same as before.

For home page settings in browsers I setup, I typically use:
about:blank or on windows machines, I might use: file:///c:/, which
loads quickly - especially when the browser is initially launched.

If I load the page and do nothing it should never load...

Therefore I never loaded it in the first place. So my result would

Or, in Google Chrome, the address bar doubles as a search box - which

Heck, Internet Explorer 7 and 8 come with one built-in, and the first
thing I always do when working on a customer's computer is switch it

(I've been tempted to point those search boxes to our in-house Google

And that was, in my mind, why Google became number one. In the days of
dial-up, you wanted a page that loaded fast. I haven't tried this latest
googleness over dialup to see what the difference is but it has to take some
sort of hit. But with that, I'm sure it's just a short run to advertise
that you can change your google background. Then we'll be back to
whitespace. (Or the black background if you ever get to level 2 of the
internet. I did that once then they changed the cheat codes I'm still
angry over that one)

Or, in Google Chrome, the address bar doubles as a search box - which

Heck, Internet Explorer 7 and 8 come with one built-in, and the first
thing I always do when working on a customer's computer is switch it
from Live/Bing to Google, unless they specifically ask otherwise.

(I've been tempted to point those search boxes to our in-house Google

kinda shady and probably against Google's TOS anyway.)

I do the same thing here as well. Add Google as the search and delete Bing

that the Bing reviews are out, looks like the best choice anyhow.

For several years, we've set customers' home pages to our Web site,
which has long had a little search box at the top. We still have
people using our Web site as their home page, even if they haven't
been customers for a long time. Some percentage of those people use
the search box on our site instead of the one in their browser or
whatever toolbar they use, and some percentage of those click on ads
even though they're clearly labeled as ads.

Signing up for a Google Adsense account and changing the search box to
use our Adsense link took maybe half an hour, which means if you make
more than about ten bucks you're probably coming out ahead. :)

the process they effectively bury the data we're really looking for.

But... this one is priceless:

And what do those reviews say? Any interesting links for the reveiews?

I just thought of Bing as a good looking google, and since I merely need
a fast loading page never use Bing - the results were about the same.

Besides, and I've tried this too for laughs - Tell someone to, Bing
 it. LOL!

OTO, Everyone knows what you mean when you say, Google it.

The truth is what we make it. Do not attempt to interfere.

As of today, small is now large.

That is all.
