RE: Cisco 702W Link Up/Down Issues when connected to a C2960x

2017-11-27 Thread Gray, Sean
Hi Randy,

That would seem to fit almost perfectly with what we are seeing as this command
isn't available on our 3750x switches (at least at the code release we are
running). I'll look into testing this on a couple of switch ports and see what
happens.

Thanks

Sean

Sean,

It sort of sounds like this bug:
https://quickview.cloudapps.cisco.com/quickview/bug/CSCus35889

Workaround:
Disable Energy-Efficient Ethernet (EEE) by below CLI command:
2960X(config-if)#no power efficient-ethernet

I remember something very similar and it took forever to resolve.

Hi Everyone,

This is a question for all of those out there that are using Cisco 702W wall
mounted access points hooked up to a Cisco Catalyst 2960x, 48 port switch
(WS-C2960X-48FPD-L). Has anyone experienced link dropping between the access
points and switches?

We have a number of 702W access points deployed across our campus, some are
connected to Cisco Catalyst 3750x switches, running 15.0(2)SE6 code. The
majority are connected to 29060x switches, running 15.2(2)E6. this is where we
have a problem. Almost all of those connected to 2960x keep dropping link,
these bounces vary in recovery time, sometimes as shown below the recovery is
under 10 seconds, sometimes over 10 seconds. The latter generates an alert from
my 5520 WLC which is caught by Prime Infrastructure and I get notified. We have
yet to see the same issue with the 702Ws that are connected to our 3750x
switches.

Nov 27 11:03:58: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface

We've tried upgrading the controller code a couple of times. Our last upgrade
had us move from 8.2.160 to 8.3.133 and the problem persists. Note we are
unable to move off the 8.3 train due to still having a few 1142s deployed.
We've tried upgrading the code version on one of the 2960x switches, from
15.2(2)E6 to 15.2(2)E7 and the problem persists.

I am sure this is an issue with the 2960x and as such we currently have a
ticket with TAC, that has recently been passed from the Wireless team to the
Switching team.

Thanks

Sean
