RE: [WIRELESS-LAN] MacBook Pro Wireless Issues

2010-08-26 Thread Nik Kumar
We found the issue to be with the IPv6 option in the TCP/IP properties
of these specific Mac's.

After toggling the IP version 6 option from "Automatically" to "Off" in
the TCP/IP properties and then reconnecting to wireless seems to work.

Thanks,

Nik

Did you try creating a new Network Location instead of using the
Automatic location?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone out there is experiencing problems with
MacBook Pro laptops connecting to Wireless.

We are using Cisco 1131AG lightweight AP's and Cisco WCS/WISM.

We have narrowed it down to be a specific Wireless card on the MacBook
Pro.

Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.10.131.16.1) & Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0
(5.10.91.27).

We have tried WPA/TKIP, WEP and OPEN (no security) and it doesn't work.

Devices are showing authenticated on the Radius but they do not receive
an IP address.

All it would say is could not connect and no IP address.

We have tickets open with Apple and Cisco at the moment but any
suggestons would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nik,

What version of WCS/WISM are you on? Upgrading to the latest greatest
has helped us some. We have struggled with this issue for over a year
as well. Cisco just wants to point to the Mac drivers while Apple
hasn't really given us any reply.

RE: [WIRELESS-LAN] Guest Wireless Questions

2010-07-02 Thread Nik Kumar
We also will be implementing this same type of service on our free guest access
using Bradford network (Network Access Control) very soon.

A staff member will have to vouch for a guest. We will also be limiting users
to web browsing only.

We provide free guest access, but not open access. Guests must be vouched for
by a faculty or staff member and that person takes responsibility for the
actions of the guest while they use the network. We have a simple online
process that the faculty or staff member uses to create a temporary ID and
password for their guest. They can create as many IDs as they need and the ID
can be requested to have a lifetime up to 1 week. After that time the ID is
deleted.
