Subject: [WIRELESS-LAN] 2.4Ghz channel designations

For many years I have consistently used channels 1, 6, and 11 as
non-overlapping channels wherever 2.4Ghz is deployed. I have a consultant who
is suggesting using all 11 channels in our high density dorm situations,
arguing that signal interference will affect throughput less than the delays
from protocols where the 3 channels are within hearing distance of each other.

This doesn't make sense to me. If you in your situation have found using all
11 channels to be an effective solution vs the 3 channel non-overlapping
approach, could you explain to me why you made that choice, and what your
on-the-ground experience is with this configuration?

Thank you!

RE: [WIRELESS-LAN] Chromebook

Agreed! Make sure you double check the Chrome OS versions. We have over 60K
chromebooks that will be running just fine and then a chrome OS update will
come out and not have all the correct channels etc. causing mass issues.

I would try to get the exact device types that are problematic, and stick with
the same OS version where trouble is happening. There is just too much variety
here.

We are running over 7700 2802i units on 8.5.131 without issue. They have been

What code are you running? There have been numerous reports (on this listserv)
about 2800's and code glitches.

Is anyone else seeing a high rate of Cisco AP 2800 failures? Out of a batch of
~500 recently installed Aps, we have had roughly 70 fail. Some were online for
a month, but some only a few days.
Typically they will fail after a powercycle or loss of power.
We are working with Cisco on this, but I'm curious if this is a more wide
spread problem.

RE: [WIRELESS-LAN] Clients unable to obtain an IP address via DHCP

2016-12-13 Thread Swartz, Pola
You want to get to the 8.2.140 code if possible. We were seeing this as well.
However, there is another CCO release coming soon beyond 8.2.140. 8.2.140 has
settle things down a bit for us.

You need a trace closer to the client. Most likely the offer is not making it
to the client or request is not making it back to the server.

Possible causes -

1. packetloss at client side
2. rouge dhcp server
