Ok, figured out what was wrong, operator error . I had my Upgrade and Target sourcefiles reversed. [WiX-users] Patch Creation Properties example in manual not working
I am looking in to creating patches with WiX and therefore I am starting with the basics of both: Using Patch Creation Properties and Using Purely WiX I am currently using the 3.7 released version of WiX and following the exact example for the 'Using Purely WiX' from the following documentation works as described: http://wixtoolset.org/documentation/manual/v3/patching/wix_patching.html Now I am trying the 'Using Patch Creation Properties and following the example as shown in the following documentation does not work. The file does NOT get updated: http://wixtoolset.org/documentation/manual/v3/patching/patch_building.html Now we have been generating and releasing all our current project .msi files without .wixpdb and therefore we would have to initially look at using Patch Creation to generate our patches, so we need to verify that this works correctly and to make sure we can built patches from the .msi files. So what changes have be done for 3.7 that prevents the generated patch from 'Patch Creation' in this example from working as indicated?
