Hmmm. I'm guessing that the panel that judges these things has to take points
off for it being a *deliberate* crash. I mean, that's *cheating*, isn't it?

-Doug Elrod (d...@cornell.edu) (sigh, RIP)

P.S. And, of course, if you were going for "The Sweet Hereafter", the van
would have to stop to pick up people, and _then_ drive onto an ice-covered
lake. So, *that's* right out

P.S.2 Apparently, Kendis Gibson would rather FIGHT than SWITCH ;-)

Just turned on the teevee and an American network is covering this. Alas, just
a van, not a Mexican bus. And why was this the first place I thought of when I
saw it was in Toronto?

Clearly there needs to be a documentary film covering all three versions
titled "The Making of 'The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3' 1 2 3".

And... the week is off to a good start...

Well, natch. They're simply using Toronto as a fill in
for NYC

Just like all those NYC subway scenes that use the Toronto Metro.
Including, dare I even mention it, the _second_ version
of "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3".

Yes, children, there are actually three of them. First is
the original, which is one of the bestest evah NYC movies,
starring Walter Matthau, Jerry Stiller, Robert Shaw, and plenty
of other first raters.

The second was an el cheapo made in Toronto for no good
reason whatsoever. It's so bad we don't talk about it
in mixed company.

(I suspect it was a throwaway produced for Canadian
content and tax reasons).

The third is the one with Denzel Washington and (shudder)
that Scientoligist. No, not him. The other one.
