[WSG] Problems with internet explorer 5.x
Hi guys, I'm developing my 1st website using standards as a volunteer to a Community Center but I'm having problems with Internet Explorer 5.x I tested in Firefox, Opera and Explorer 6 and works fine. However, when I'm using Explorer 5.x it doesn't looks good. (Menu on the left side) If you take a look at http://www.centrobrasilangola.org/new you'll see it. The css is located at http://www.centrobrasilangola.org/new/style.css Thanks in advance. [WSG] asp x table
Hi folks, I have one question and I'd like to share with you. There's one page on my website that is generated based on a query in my database. This query could result in more than 100 records. So, my question is: Who is the correct way to create a table to receive this information? What is appropriate? Create just one page with all the results of this query or a paging for each 10 records? (I'm thinking about the time spent to get this information). I'm using asp and sql server. Re: [WSG] EMBED tag
Hi Mario, take a look at: http://alistapart.com/articles/flashsatay/ Regards, Gean Good afternoon all, I'm trying to design and create all my sites in 2004 using the XHTML and CSS compliant standards. Although, I have six-plus years of Web and graphic design experience, the Web standards guidelines and community are quite new to me. I've noticed that the EMBED tag doesn't comply with XHTML, but won't display Flash clips in NN, Mozilla, or Firefox if omitted. This poses a real problem because I use small Flash clips in customer sites as banner ads, and if I remove the EMBED tag then the Flash file won't load, and there's a hole in my page. Any suggestions that will help me resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Mario S. Re: [WSG] DTDS and which to use?
Hi Jaime, the W3Schools is a useful page. You can learn more about the diferences using this link: http://www.w3schools.com/xhtml/xhtml_dtd.asp Regards, Gean I have always work with XHTML 1.0 Transitional and never really bothered with Strict until I yesterday when someone sub a project to me saying that the client wanted the page done using Strict because it is the latest. Is being the latest the point in using strict? I find it kinda amusing. What's the difference actually between the 3 besides how the web generates the page and how do you decide which to use? Pondered over this because I have never tried working with strict and now that I have, W3C xhtml validator is showing bunch of errors which I have no idea why it could be errors. Basically limiting me to the core. Urggh! Why would a person decide when to use Strict? Wouldn't using transitional be easier for making it work with certain database, scripts etc like for e.g. movable type? Anyone has a link to an online tutorial with working with strict xhtml dtds besides those links at W3C? Sorry for this non CSS related topic but just hope the list could help clear my confusion :) With Regards, Jaime Wong ~~~ SODesires Design Team http://www.sodesires.com ~~~ * The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/ *
Re: [WSG] Re: WSG Member Countries
Hello! So, I'm a Brazilian who is living now in Canada. And I take part in both lists. If someone has conditions to take part in both, I'll advice. This is my first post here, and I'd like to thank you guys in giving us a lot of material about web standards. Ira, who is an authority in our group in Brazil, has been contributing to increase in our country the benefits when we're creating accessible sites. I'm still learning. Every day.
