Re: [WSG] ideas for this site
Of the body or a container div?.. and have a div with padding to set it in the middle? Is this the best practice for a site of this idea? Thanks! That makes sense. I'm going to give it a whirl and see what I can mock up for him. Thanks again! Use what ever method you are comfortable with to position the content within that div. You are confining yourself to that page size (width and height) however, unless you decide on a background color that will show should someone want to or need to scale their text size. Scaling text (up) would most likely push out your containing div (one with image bg) at least in one direction, so the question would be what to do in that case. (i.e. the bg color mentioned before). You could also have a huge image that was cropped by the container div, and as the user scaled their text (up) more of the huge image would show. The down-side to this is that it would be... well... a huge image. Re: [WSG] css print help
Hi Terrence, I'm not trying to force a user to print in Landscape (you need ScriptX ActiveX to do that on IE 6).. The regular view and then print view are different and I'm trying to get them to be the same. Trying to make them look the same when you print.. Thanks! On 12/21/05, Terrence Wood [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Greg Morphis said: Looks great until you try to print in landscape. Can someone please help me with adjusting the css so that the print preview looks the same as it does in the browser. Interesting problem. I'm not sure you can access the print settings dialog from the browser, if that's what you're asking. Anyone? How about including an adivsory (please set your printer to landscape) with the page? Or you may be able to do something server side given you are on the intranet, but that's not my field. We're on a IE standard intranet.. sucks I know uh-huh, standard corporate fare really. kind regards Terrence Wood. ** The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/ See http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm for some hints on posting to the list getting help ** -- Auxilium meum a Domino ** The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/ See http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm for some hints on posting to the list getting help **

[WSG] absolute positioning?
Hey, I'm trying to build a daily schedule view which will have schedules from 6am - 10pm. I'm not sure if this is the correct approach so I'm asking for help... I was thinking of using a table with 3 columns, 1 column for the name, 1 column for job title and 1 column for their daily schedule. I was thinking of using spans for the various tasks that the users will have throughout their day. table width=790px; border=1 tr td width=75pxPat Smoot/td td width=75pxCSR/td td width=640pxspan style=left:0px;width:140px;background-color:blue;text-align:center;Work/span/td /tr /table the border is just for viewing.. I believe what I need to use is absolutle positioning however when I add that to the inline CSS statement, the width works but the span is moved out of the cell table element. I'm no CSS wiz, I'm just a beginner and hoping one of you can suggest some sites to look at, tutorials or code snippets. I also tried all CSS and didnt get too far either.. div id=schedule div id=schedule_row style=position:absolute;width:790px; span id=user style=position:absolute;left:0px;width:75px;text-align:center;Pat Smoot/span span id=job style=position:absolute;left:75px;width:75px;text-align:center;CSR/span span class=task style=position:relative;width:120px;left:120px;text-align:center;background-color:blue;Work/span /div /div I'm trying to make it look something like this... http://home.alltel.net/omen/schedule_example.jpg Thanks! -- Auxilium meum a Domino ** The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/ See http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm for some hints on posting to the list getting help **
[WSG] Any good color spies?
You guys know of any good tools which has a color spy and also shows similar colors (colors that go well with the color you spied)? Re: [WSG] Any good color spies?
Yeah, I really like that one too. I can use a color spy and get a hex value and plug it into that and get a few difference variances. Thanks!
