ATIA is holding the Call for Presentations until June 22, 2012 to enable
speakers to submit abstracts for the 2013 Orlando

As Strand Advisor for the Higher Education strand, I would like to extend a
personal invitation for you to consider submitting one or two abstracts for
this important conference on assistive technology.

*What type of sessions are within the scope of the Higher Education strand?*
The Higher Education Strand is focused on student accommodations and campus
accessibility, with a particular focus on curriculum access and access to
campus information and information systems. Presentations on accessible
web, media, Universal Design and ebooks are also welcome submissions to
this strand.

accepting proposals for its 15th Annual Conference in Westminster, Colorado.
 AHG focuses on accessible media, universal design, best practices for Web
& media design, accessible curriculum, alternate format and other topics
related to accessibility in higher education and other environments. The

[WSG] Webinar - "Captioning in the University Environment" - June 8

*"Captioning in the University Environment" - June 8, 2011 *

Accessing Higher Ground is presenting its first in a series of
post-conference webinars: "Captioning in the University Environment."

The first 10 registrants are eligible to receive a 10% discount. Another 10%
discount is available if you attended Accessing Higher Ground 2010.

Overview

This seminar will include both pre-recorded and live components. Speakers
from two universities, Purdue and Stanford, will talk about their efforts to
implement and enhance captioning on their campuses. Dean Brusnighan from
Purdue will discuss a year-long effort to introduce captioning to
Administrative Video, Academic Video, and Intercollegiate Athletics.

John Foliot will talk about the Stanford Captioning Project, a project to
simplify the captioning process and improve access to Web-based media
through institution of an automated Web-based interface service to convert
media content into formats for accessible Web-based media players.

The 2nd and final round for Accessing Higher Ground: *Accessible Media, Web
& Technology Conference* proposals are due by May 6.

Location: *Boulder, CO*

Dates: *November 14-18, 2011*

Speaker Discounts: For the main conference, accepted out of town speakers
will receive a 10% discount off conference registration fees. Local speakers
will receive a 5% discount. Additional incentives are provided for accepted
pre conference proposals. ATHEN members in good standing receive an
