[wsjt-devel] Separate F/H freq list

2019-02-27 Thread Rich Zwirko - K1HTV
I too like the idea of separating the special Fox/Hound frequencies from
the main list and having them activated when that mode is selected. Having
multiple frequencies to choose from in the band list can be confusing,
especially to the new user. A smaller subset, most likely only one per band
would simplify things in the Fox/Hound mode.

Completely locking out the use of standard frequencies while in the F/H
mode would stop DX stations who use WSJT-X and feel that they deserve to
use the F/H mode. But the clones of WSJT-X would probably continue to be
used by these 'special' DX stations on normal FT8 frequencies.

Rich - K1HTV

I like the idea of custom frequency lists.

I realize this would be more elaborate in terms of code changes, but it
would be nice to be able to have a separate list of Fox/Hound frequencies
that could be customized, and would switch into place in that mode.

While it isn't hard to add custom frequencies, this might help popularize
Fox/Hound and make it clear that custom frequencies are needed,

Re: [wsjt-devel] [wsjtgroup] 70 Mhz Region 1 Freq

2019-02-27 Thread Neil Zampella

FWIW ... I do this with separate CONFIGURATIONS.  Each configuration has
its own set of Frequencies, and I have one setup for DXPeditions.
Lately I've had to create separate ones as there are a few DXPeditions
running at the same time, and they are using different frequencies to
keep from stepping on another.

It works great, and all I have to do is switch back to my normal FT8 (or
other mode) configuration and all my settings are returned to what I
need for the mode.

All

I have re-read what I posted and with hindsight I realise I was
well over the top - there was no excuse.

I apologise to the groups (cross posted on purpose).

Would still like to get to the the bottom of a suitable frequency
for 4m for those that have the allocation - yes 60m is similar.

Ron yes I know you can edit the frequencies - that is the little
‘niggle’ (which I blew out of proportion) - have already been
through the exercise - all was working fine - for my area the
_majority_ of users 70.154 fits - yes there is ZS which on Es may
be possible - another couple of allocation is weird - but in
general it worked.

Along comes an upgrade and woosh all the work gone - I can change
it all back but what will happen on the next upgrade but that is
in the future for just now.

Again I apologise to all

Yes, this happens in my XUbuntu system also

However, I simply ignore those messages.

After WSJT-X loads everything works just fine

2019-02-27 Thread G8DQX (WSJT developers on SF)

Tom,

perhaps, when composing such an email, you might consider the stratagem
of waiting for 10 minutes, re-reading, and then asking yourself if what
has been written is going to be read, by somebody else, to mean what you
thought that you were saying, and how you meant to say it. For some
emails waiting half-an-hour or the following day (or later) before
deleting or sending may be more appropriate.

As written, your email sounds churlish and ungrateful, some would say
intemperate. Does the email really reflect your view of the WSJT-X
development team and community, and how you would wish to engage with
the rest of us?
