Re: [wsjt-devel] WSJT-X 2.1.1 GA release

2019-11-25 Thread Black Michael via wsjt-devel
For those having Icom rig control problems here's a zip file of a 32-bit
version of hamlib.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/9gv73e9m0stijxw/gitnotes.docx?dl=0

It will work with the 64-bit version of WSJT-X also.
#1 Unzip this file into it's own directory.
#2 Ensure WSJT-X is not running.
#3 Run this from a command prompt with an appropriate string for your right
like the IC-7610 here
rigctl -l | find "7610"
You will get a result like this:   378  Icom                   IC-7610
       0.10            Untested

Now run rigctld with the number returned from the above command.  Adjust com
port and baud to suit.
rigctld -m 378 -r com1 -s 19200 -v -Z >log.txt 2>&1
#4 Start WSJT-X and select "Hamlib NET rigctl" for the rig.
Hopefully this works for ya'll...if not please send me the log.txt file.

Hi Andreas,

TBH I am surprised you have got as far as you have, especially when
building on the target machine. Those run time errors are major
problems, for example:

1) no keyboard,
2) pulseaudio server appears to be non-functional,
3) no support for shared memory between processes.

The last will become moot in some future release of WSJT-X as we intend
to unify the wsjtx and jt9 processes so shared memory will no longer be
required for interprocess communications, but that's some way off.

WSJT-X 2.1.1 64-bit works well so far on my Win 10 system. Also no OmniRig
issues so far. Thanks for this new release.
One thing: "Hold Tx Freq" setting is still not remembered when coming back
from F/H mode. IMO would be worth to be fixed, as it could cause
accidentally QRM.

[wsjt-devel] v2.1.1 64bit monitor placement problem

2019-11-25 Thread WB5JJJ
I just installed the v2.1.1 64b version to test the monitor placement
memory across 3 monitors. It still does not work. The main window is off
to the right of my right most monitor and the WF is on the main monitor.
After repositioning and resizing on the middle and left monitor, all is
good till I shut down and restart the program when everything returns to
the previously described placements. Nothing was remembered at all.

Uninstalled all mentions of WSJTx and rebooted. Installed v2.1.1 64 bit
and same as above. Installed 32b version over 64b and all sizes were
wrong. Restored to the screens to the proper monitors / sizes and then
shutdown and restarted the program and all was again good.

This has been an ongoing problem for me since the 64 bit was introduced.
The 64b just does not write to the ini file the window placements.

Hi Andreas,

CMake does not take much memory, it is just running make. The make
executable doesn't take much memory, but the compiles and links etc.
that make runs will use memory. To limit memory use avoid using parallel
make, i.e. do not pass '-j' to the build command. A build without
parallel make will take much longer but memory use will be considerably
less. There will still be a couple compilation steps that need a lot of
memory, there's not much we can do about that.

Why are you building in a target machine? Are there cross compilers
available that can be run on a desktop or server host machine?
