Re: [wsjt-devel] Callsign Security

2023-10-11 Thread Ashhar Farhan via wsjt-devel
I guess, a simpler approach would be to provide a checksum derived from
your secret key associated with your callsign in your QSLs.
This needs to be outside the wsjtx. The infrastructure should be maintained
by a non-profit international body. Like the eff.org.

This behavior is not a bug. "CQ Max Dist" is effective only when the
Active Stations window is displayed, which apparently you have not done.

Re: [wsjt-devel] WSJT-X 2.7.0-rc2 Switching caller in TX1 message

2023-10-11 Thread Uwe, DG2YCB via wsjt-devel

Hi Clay,

Thanks for this issue report. With WSJT-X, CQ: Max Dist only works with
certain contest messages, and when you have the Active Stations window
open. I have changed this with my wsjt-x_improved
 program. There it works also
for normal messages. This program also contains a number of bug fixes
that might also fix the first problem. Feel free to try it out, and then
please be so kind and report if the mentioned issues are gone with it.

Wsjt-x_improved is an extended version of WSJT-X. It has the same source
code core. I use it to try out new features and fixes that sometimes
become part of WSJT-X later. Examples were the mode buttons and numerous
detail improvements to the WSJT-X source code.

The main reason for offering two programs, WSJT-X and wsjt-x_improved,
is that there are two groups of users. One group has been using WSJT-X
for a long time and doesn't really want any changes or new features.
Just look at how few of the v2.6.1 users have tried v2.7.0-rc so far.
According to PSK Reporter statistics, that's only 9.7%. And then
remember the numerous protests just because we had introduced a new Tune
watchdog function.
The second group of users, on the other hand, would like to have exactly
such new features. They eagerly await every new improvement and
immediately test or use them intensively. This second group is currently
served with wsjt-x_improved. There are a lot of useful additional
features, bug fixes as well as new program versions as soon as it is
worthwhile (about three to four times as often as with WSJT-X).

seen in WSJT-X 2.6.1

There is another bug in both 2.6.1 and 2.7.0 RC2 where the first call
is always picked to respond to even if max dist is slected.
