2023-06-14 Thread Jari A via wsjt-devel
Hi Joe, Hi others,

When contest modes were taken in use, WSJT-X ( and clones ) got quite fast
attention and adaptation for Nordic Activity Contests ( NAC ).

I been contesting in 10m, 6m, 2m and 70cm contests on FT8 mode for years
now. There is also traffic on 4m FT8, also 23cm and higher.
Mode is EU VHF Contest from 10m band.

Countries participating to NAC, are numerous: Finland, Sweden, Denmark,
Norway, Iceland, Faroe island, Estonia, then Latvia, Lithuania, Poland,
Germany, Italy, other European countries what is not mentioned.

There are several contests in every month over the year. NAC in different
bands happen every month.

Been several years since I message to Joe about contesting and one follow
up as it got so popular in Nordic countries.

I seen EU VHF Contest excellent thing. CW and SSB operators may disagree...

Re: [wsjt-devel] Rig verification

2020-07-16 Thread Jari A
Hi Mike,

Using TS-790 in TS-711 works, but not properly.

Split operation > Rig = Key tune on - 2 seconds later rig beeps "U" for
usb, at 6'th second tx goes on. No rig qrg change.
Fake it, works immediately and has qrg change

Mode None, and split to rig, causes ~1,5 second delay on tx.

Works almost, but some incompatibilities

TS-711 (2m multimode)

2.2.2 , error if wstj-x setting is set for rig split. No matter if rig has
split on or off in the rig.
Setting, Split operation > Rig: Causes hamlib error.
If wsjt-x is set for Fake It, rig qrg follows wsjt-x control and changes tx
qrg according tx offset from wsjt-x

Wsjt-x usually crash with window to tell crash and has some information.
With busy contesting and in total focus for it, I cant see much else than
the crash which halts me. Then urgent restart and continuing with FT8.
Thus I thought to ask about it to do something useful for wsjt-x community

Thanks Bill, we see what happens today and are anything from it any use to
improve contesting.

[wsjt-devel] What crash files to deliver

2020-02-04 Thread Jari A
Today is NAC contest on 2m and as I have had several crashes before in the
middle of contests, I would wish to improve software from my little part,
but:

What files to deliver, to who, with crash text from the crash window? Audio
files? Screen captures? all.txt?

While I run the contest I dont have much time for else, but if I know in
advance what to do, I can do it for wsjt-x

Pse let me know.

Re: [wsjt-devel] Crash in VHF-contest

2020-01-07 Thread Jari A
Hi Tom,

WSJT-X 2.1.2, running VHF contest on FT8, 12 qsos previously and qso #13
cause the crash.

After crash, normal windows software close error window with option to look
for web solution. Could not do else than click to close.

While typing this, WSJT-X crash again.

No error messages, but loop

[wsjt-devel] Lost wsjtx_log.adi

2019-07-18 Thread Jari A
Lost my wsjtx_log.adi file!

I did some file managing last night, and all was fine. Today I start on 20m
FT8 and all was ok.
Then I change to 6m FT8 and for my surprise all stations were color marked.

On start wstjx shows : Scanned ADIF log, 0 worked before records created

I'm not sure if I screw up with HRD file exporting or was this about record
number, I have 16660 wsjt-x qsos.

When I mess up previously, I could return data from HRD adif export, but
with wsjtx 2.1.0 GA, it doesnt work anymore. I wonder what to do now?

Could someone kindly help me?

[wsjt-devel] Call sign error

2019-05-30 Thread Jari A
Got this surprise.

Station call me several times and all I got was: <...> and report.
Something wrong in the call sign. Very likely setting gone wrong, but does
user see it incorrectly or does it come out bad?

Thought to post here, in case station recognices him/her self ( women dont
do errors like this, or do they? )

Just to increase knowledge for users and fyi developers

Greetings,

[wsjt-devel] Buggies 2

2019-05-02 Thread Jari A
Hi again,

Another bug, actually happen earlier with 2.0.1 but appear second time with
2.1.0.

Earlier I work Slovenian S57AT on FT4 - and got contest report on my "log
qso" window, even S57AT did not send such, location goes to Spain.
550003JN01VR

I just work VK1HX and I got again contest report 540001JN01VR

Neither sent that, they were normal qsos.

Another anomaly; I work station on hes qrg, second station calls me in the
middle of first qso, I finish it and then double click second caller. My tx
qrg remains at first station qrg. I can manually change my tx with "up
arrow" button, but it causes some surprises to me and first station as I tx
on first station qrg. No biggie if I spot that in time, but I did got
"FOOL" comment about it.

Running on wednesday like mad contester, I had 116 qsos despite jumping OK
and Cancel buttons. Adaptation to them wasnt too bad, but I got few errors
due the buttons. Most problem was to cancel unfinish qso.

[wsjt-devel] 2.1.0 bugs

2019-04-30 Thread Jari A
Hi Bill,

I meant, when I open 2.0.1 version after using 2.1.0, - 201 main window
opens in center to my (win 7 pro 64bit) desktop and other windows are
minimized, including contest window.
I need to open them separately, reposition and resize them.

My ALL.TXT file is almost 250MB of its size, there is some 60 000 pages of
data.
I cant find yesterdays loopers from it. Sorry.

I delete this file and save it, in case theres need for it later, but with
new file, I keep an eye for loopers.

BUG: TX4; RR73 cant be changed anymore from RR73 to RRR by double click.
If type RRR to the field, it tx, double click to dot or the tx4 button
returns RR73.

I was hasty with this as today, April 30, 1500 UTC we have nordic activity
contest, where I thought to give a try for this in real action.

Best regards,

[wsjt-devel] Bugies in 2.1.0

2019-04-29 Thread Jari A
Some quick bugies:

Windows 7 pro 64bit,

When wsjt-x 210 start, rx audio level goes to +30db = full volume

Manual log qso, has Ok and Cancel buttons at least 4 different positions
within different qsos

Change color, causes mode to jump to FT8

Occasional loop in signal reporting, even high signal levels

- opening 201, windows on desktop are messed up, wrong places and wrong
sizes and mode gone to JT9

Re: [wsjt-devel] Someone released an Auto CQ mod - my 2 cents

2019-04-02 Thread Jari A
Hi Guys, this is OH2FQV / Jari

I'm handicap operator, within my physical limitations, main thing I do at
my day time is working on 20m FT8. I dont have much else to do. I spend
most of my hours with pc and radio. I may have 50 qso's per day, even more
if theres extra activity on the band.

I have had few emails to telling me to stop my illegal robot/ automated
operation on FT8.

The truth: I do everything manually. I dont even use JTalert to assits.
I'm so ilirate, that I cant do programing, or so to automate my operations.

There do are stations with automation, but I'm not one of those.

I'm sorta flattered of having those comments of being machine like
operator

I dont know, but doing mass working with stations is fun for me, as much
fun like at the fair to shot down disks (ducks) with crooked BB-gun.
Shot and ding - and make guy in the booth frustrated...

Please dont get upset with me, I'm just silly old man having fun - manually

Very best regards,

Re: [wsjt-devel] RC5 error in JT65

2018-11-27 Thread Jari A
Hi Charlie, others

No, I work several qsos with RC5 on FT8, then got silent with FT8, so I
change to JT65 as I saw traffic on it.

I also note, that after I change from JT65 to JT9, RC5 keeps tx on FT8,
even JT9 is indicated below date/ time window.

[wsjt-devel] wsjt-X2 Crash report oh2fqv

2018-09-19 Thread Jari A
14.078

af4fa tx at 1496Hz , no locator with the call sign.

Tried to double click to the call AF4FA at band activity window, not copied.

I type call manually to DX Call field, set manually locator and I made
Generate Std Msgs, it move it to TX1-5 fields.

This cause WSJT-X2 to transmit AF4FA only, no locator. I tried this 2 full
times and at third I interrupt the Tx.
I find DC0HD calling CQ ( new call on band color )
DC0HD JO30 1523Hz

Double click to hes call and immediate crash with short beep.

Windows 7, 64 bit - ts-590sg via CAT control

Re: [wsjt-devel] Worked stations display confusion

2017-12-25 Thread Jari A
Hi Michael,

Let me try more accurate. My english fails at a times

I have last official version from wsjt-x page, When it was published, I
install it and all been good. Been working like a charm.
I tried compiling from sources at July, but didnt get it working, so I use
RC1. and RC2... and RC3... and now this last release.

Last night ( Dec 24't) I work N2BJ 21:20 utc, then I shut wsjt-z 1.8.0 down
and restart my computer and leave it for virus check.
Computer is 24/7, at morning I activate monitor and all was good, no errors
or anything.

Read email and start wsjt-x and wham. Purple, Y. hold on.. wait a
sec... Armenia, yes, work that. Haa another one. Dodecanese... ummm. looks
familiar call, yes, both of them in my hrd logbook.

Then more purple and pink... very less green...

I did restart, no change, I ran chkdsk, no errors. I even defrag, no change.

I look to wsjt-x.log and I have :
2017-10-22,16:33:45,2017-10-22,16:37:00,WA2HIP,FN54,14.074319,FT8,+02,-10,,,

but software shows this as purple, like I havent work USA or WA2HIP...

I wonder, how or where wsxt-x gets attributes for worked station or new
country? As that file may be somehow corrupted.
Where to look, what to look, what to change?

I hope I make sense with this problem.

Next I may try is to reinstall the wsjt-x.

Thank you so much of helping me, I wish I can get you worked at 20m... been
looking for you, seen few times, but no luck - yet.

But this email reach a bit easier.? I hope.

Happy holidays,

Regards and ton of thanks,

: Jari / oh2fqv

2666 FT-8 qsos

Problem is that, band activity gives me lots of new countries and stations
- what I have work months ago.
Bulgaria, Moldova, Dodecanese, ceuta etc etc. comes at violet
Lots of stations who are worked are pink, but they are in my main logbook

Virus check ran on last night, disk check did came up ok. No settings
changed

Would love to have ideas to repair something..

Re: [wsjt-devel] Need for possible filtering

2017-08-27 Thread Jari A
Hi Ernie, others.

What I had was intentional DQRM, this station entertain himself at 6m by
sending 73's all again and again, ruin my working by these continous
replies. I look from psk-reporter, that he saw my signal excellently. I use
90W with 5el yagi.

This was not software problem, but bad behavior.

I change my frequency, but this idiot follow me and ran over my qsos. I
monitor that there was several signals to me with spectrum analyzer
software, but as this station was strong, he over run everyone.

Thus my thought, if others has had this phenomenon and there would be need
for such block list feature.
There are also stations using false prefixes and such "where ?" purple line
makes me to jump for it, till I realize its one of those fake call signs.

I thought to mention of this event and the idea

My very best wishes to you good Guys,

[wsjt-devel] Need for possible filtering

2017-08-27 Thread Jari A
Hi Guys,

I just got to situation, what I would not believe ever to happen.

One station decide to send hes 73's to me 48 times. In a row.
After I return from my pause, I start CQ and this same call came on and
sent 12 new 73's.
I did took Call 1st off, but that cause more havoc to me.

So strong signal, my notch didnt eat it away, so I cry here about this.

Is there any possibility to include "pirate" (idiot) call sign filter to
WSJT-X to block fake call signs and if needed, these umm over
excited operators?

Or should I just shake it off and take what I get?

Best regards,

[wsjt-devel] Possible bugs v2

2017-07-11 Thread Jari A
Hi again,

I see my error with the slider, it do say "digital gain graph windows"
I assume it was same as its been few years with wsjt-x 1.7. As it change
level display dB level, in the past.

I need to learn better of new features on 1.8.rc1. Too excited to get on
the band with it, so rtfm was obvious thing to being ignored.

I'll read the manual and my absence from here is the marker all is good ;o)

Thanks of the comments

[wsjt-devel] possible bugs

2017-07-11 Thread Jari A
Hello, I'm new here, so apologies if I cause extra havoc.

WSJT-X 1.8.0-rc1
Windows 7 pro 64 bits

I think I seen few anomalies: Digital gain does not change input level, bar
remain green and at 62dB level, even no input signal.

Second thing I note is TX5.
If I do CQ and wish to mark TX 5 after report, autoseq jumps to TX4, no
matter what. After sequence has started, if I'm quick I can press send now
button to get my 73 out.

If I manage to type ( opponent station who replied to me) call RRTU73 to
TX5 field, it changes to call call 73 format.

Dunno if these are worth for anything, but atleast I enbarrase myself at
very first message to this list :o)

Very best regards,
