Re: [wsjt-devel] How much operating time before rebooting your computer
I have seen the “desensitized” as well, BUT, only for my older Win7 + 2GHz 1.5GB Pentium Mobile laptop (ca 2005). It is only when many signals are present AND the program was running for +4hr. Sometimes the decode takes 4-5 seconds. I only run WSJT-X, Dimension4, Chrome (3 tabs), no antivirus. When the program restarts, it is fast again. I’m thinking it is a Win7 memory or processor allocation issue. No problem for the Win10 i7 8GB laptop. 73 de W8NET Gene 3905 Century Club Master #47 Portage County Amateur Radio Service (PCARS) since 2008 ARRL A-1 Op > On Apr 26, 2018, at 11:57 PM, harold deitz via wsjt-devel >wrote: > > Ray, > > I have seen the same thing as N0AN mentioned. Ray, I have seen the same thing as N0AN mentioned. Letting Win10 update solves the problem (if you can call it a problem). I call it housekeeping. Hal - W5GHZ Sent from Yahoo Mail. Re: [wsjt-devel] How much operating time before rebooting your computer
I have observed this issue when win10 is waiting to update, but I haven't been notified that an update is pending. I discovered this when I noticed My 2nd wsjt-x machine was only decoding about one half the stations that my other machine was. When I told the 2nd ma Hine to restart, it immediately notified me that it was updating during the reboot and not to turn the machine off. I have seen this scenario present itself 3 times now, over a three month period. In each case the 2nd computer began decoding exactly as the first. Mine is running all the time unless I do the occasional reboot. Never been an issue here. Re: [wsjt-devel] How much operating time before rebooting your computer
If by losing sensitivity you mean fewer signals are decided, are you sure it’s not just band conditions? If you’re seeing signals on the waterfall that don’t decode after your computer has been on a long time, perhaps you need to re-sync your time more frequently? Ray KA3PCX Hi Ray, a common issue is power saving schemes that shut down USB devices when the system has been idle for extended periods, you must disable these options if you rig audio or CAT control is over a USB connection. 73 Bill G4WJS. -- Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot ___ wsjt-devel mailing list wsjt-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wsjt-devel
