If SmartSDR 3.4 has two Slices active when starting WSJT-X, enabling Q65
Doppler Tracking will cause CAT to fail. CAT turns from Green to Orange and
stops responding to WSJT-X CAT commands.
After experimentation, the bypass is to ensure only one Slice is active with
starting WSJT-X. In Radio settings, Split operations is set to Rig Control.

So, what (if anything) are you suggesting should be done? Have you
already solved your problem satisfactorily? What, exactly, is the nasty
bug to which you refer?
As a general matter, WSJT-X controls just one "rig". In your case I
suppose this means one slice.
