Re: [X2Go-User] USB webcam does not work

2016-10-31 Thread olafs6
Hi Stefan,

thanks for the explanation, then I know now that it is not a
configuration error on my system.

I'll see if I find a replacement for putty I had installed on
the flash drive of the thinclient. Then I would run on my computer (only
there I need the webcam from time to time) x2go over the client
software and would have in the background the option of the webcam.

Thank you for your great work!

Bye,
Olaf

Re: [X2Go-User] Enable sound on x2go tce

2016-10-31 Thread olafs6
Hi Walid,

directly after inserting the patch you specified I successfully
tested the audio call with skype, it works perfectly.

I need the video function absolutely. Not very often, but always
again.
Until now, I always have to shut down my thinclient with x2go and start
another system (putty) on my thinclient. There, however, I can not fully
exploit x2go, since the x2go screen with every right click with the
mouse for some time freezes, so you can not work.

Bye,
Olaf

The developer of Telekinesis/mTelePlayer left for greener pastures (AKA
Arctica Project), so there's no further active development on that code
(and it has never been part of X2Go proper, from what I know).

As hinted at in the other thread:

- write the required code yourself (patches welcome), or
- pay the development costs (probably in the 5 000 - 10 000 EUR range)

At present, we only support plain file sharing - this should work for an
USB hard disk or even a USB CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive in read-only mode, but
there's no burn capability, as there's no forwarding of USB devices.

Stefan Baur

You don't. There is no USB forwarding support, because no volunteer
coder has stepped up to code one in their free time, and no one wants to
pay for the development costs either.

We support Printing, Audio, and file sharing - that's it.

[X2Go-User] USB webcam does not work

2016-10-31 Thread olafs6
Hi!

>From my webcam (Microsoft lifecam 3000 HD) works under x2go TCE only
the microphone, but no picture. I can also not check anything and come
no further, since the webcam is not shown with lsusb in shell.

(By the way, other USB devices are full not recognized, as my
external hdd and a BlueRay drive. Via USB, only the microphone of the
webcam and USB sticks works so far.)

How do I get the webcam to run?

Re: [X2Go-User] Enable sound on x2go tce

2016-10-31 Thread Walid MOGHRABI
Hi Olaf,

I'm completely sure you can make your USB Headset work in TCE mode since it
only rely on Pulseaudio which is tunneled from the client to the server, I
already use this and sound and microphone are working perfect.
Webcam is a much more complicated issue since the TCE kernel will certainly
recognize your USB webcam but it won't transport the video stream to the server
the way Pulseaudio does with sound.

Maybe there is a way but this is far beyond my skills regarding X2Go.
Not sure if you really need video with Skype but for sure, audio calls will
work.

Regards.

Hi Walid,

it works, thank you very much!
If I still manage to get usb and the webcam to run, I can
perhaps even finally use skype.
