[X2Go-User] Session with a single application

2023-07-29 Thread Olaf
Hello!

How to configure a session with a single application?

"Session Type":
"Application" -> command "thunar" and/or "/usr/bin/thunar" in the right box

=> Application starts but freezes immediately (or at least doesn't respond to
input/mouse). No matter whether browser, mail, Libreoffice, pcmanfm,...

[X2Go-User] x2go parallel to LTSP

2023-06-14 Thread Olaf
Hi!

Is it possible to use x2go-server on a server parallel to LTSP?
If so, would it be possible

a) to decide when booting the client whether to load an LTSP image or the
x2go-TCE?
b) take over an LTSP session remotely via x2go?

My plan was primarily Bodhi because it runs nice and fast, but at the moment
I'm also testing with Lubuntu, Ubuntu, etc.
Anything with Ubuntu origins as LTS (22.04, bodhi 6 ~only 20.04) is okay, with
LXQt, LXDE, IceWM, anything fast.

A light, fast distribution that can still be managed graphically would be
ideal, which unfortunately sometimes contradicts itself. Puppy etc. are great,
but with such I have repeatedly reached my limits when setting up the complete
system as a server / x2go server with DHCP, cifs, etc.

Re: [X2Go-User] x2go and jerky websites

2023-06-12 Thread Olaf
Hi Stefan!

At the top of their website there is now a notice of a server failure. And
since somewhere on the website it is explicitly mentioned that users shouldn't
send questions about technical things by e-mail, I refrained from doing so.

I tested again several hours on my ESXI and on a local PC + Clients with
several new VMs with Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Bodhi, ... and different browsers, but
everyone except Pale-Moon stutters.

What is the easiest way for me to test x2goKdrive? There was an email regarding
the release, but unfortunately I can't find it in the source.

Greeting,
Olaf

Re: [X2Go-User] x2go and jerky websites

2023-06-11 Thread Olaf
Hi Stefan & Uli!

Unfortunately, it has now turned out that Pale-Moon is not compatible with one
of the websites that I absolutely need. The drop down menus included there
freezes the browser for a long time as far as I can tell.
Since the Pale-Moon forum hasn't been available for a long time and I don't see
any other support, I can't get any further.

Uli,
Thank you for the information about the differences.
Due to the stuttering in browsers, I have made several attempts with the
settings in the past, but had no significant success.

Does x2goKdrive work with the TCE?
Then Kdrive would be my last chance with x2go and I would try it out.

Greetings,
Olaf

[X2Go-User] temporarily disable pxe / Kernel panic

2023-05-11 Thread Olaf Staubus
Hello!

In my existing system, x2go including the pxe server runs on a virtual machine.

Since I've had a few problems with it for a long time, such as windows closing
immediately when calling up an already running session from one PC to the
other, I would like to test a new installation in another virtual machine.

However, the old and the new system presumably get in the way(?)
If the new server is also running and I boot a thin client, after a
long boot time comes:

192.799091] Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
[192.801339] Pid: 1, comm: busybox Not tainted 3.2.0-4-486 #1 Debian

[192.809562] ... do_group_exit ...
... sys_exit_group ...
... syscall_call ...
... panic occured, switching back to text console

How can I temporarily disable the PXE functionality of the previous
server? And/or is there another problem here?

Re: [X2Go-User] x2go and jerky websites

2023-05-11 Thread Olaf Staubus
Hello Stefan,

Thank you for the great tip. Pale Moon really runs a lot smoother.

Would that work much better with KDrive than this combination with PaleMoon?

If I can optimize this a bit, then I could save myself the switch to LTSP that
was actually planned for this reason.

Olaf

[X2Go-User] x2go and jerky websites

2023-05-10 Thread Olaf Staubus
Hello!

I've been using x2go for a long time and I've always had the problem of jerky
scrolling on websites.

In the meantime, however, I use cloud services in the browser, and now another
one is added. This is practically no longer usable with my x2go installation.

Is there a combination (Linux OS + browser) that runs really fast?
Videos aren't important, but modern websites shouldn't be stuttering.

[X2Go-User] Failed messages during startup & small session menu

2021-12-20 Thread Olaf
Hi!

The start process from the boot menu to the session menu takes an extremely

After that

After that ultimately, the session menu appears graphically correct in
the upper left corner, but much too small, as if the screen size was
not recognized. Or is there somewhere a setting option for the size?

If you select a session, the session will be opened correctly in full
screen.

The termination (shutdown) of the session also takes a lot of time, until the
small session menu.

What can be the reason?

[X2Go-User] pxe-boot: unable to locate configuration file

2021-12-18 Thread Olaf
Hello!

I have set up a new server with an Ubuntu offshoot (bodhi).

The client reports correct IP / Mask / DHCP IP / Gateway IP from dhcpd.conf
when booting via pxe, but then:
"PXELINUX 6.04 PXE 20191223 ... Anvin ... Unable to locate configuration file"

/etc/dhcpd.conf:
next-server 192.168.3.8;
filename "/pxelinux.0";
interface ens160;

Connecting from another PC with x2go client works.
I've been sitting there for hours and can't get any further. Would be great if
someone could help me.

/etc/default/isc-dhcp-server:
INTERFACESv4 = "ens160"

/etc/exports:

[X2Go-User] Stop pxe-Server

2021-12-01 Thread Olaf Staubus
Hello!

How can I stop the pxe-server (only the pxe function)?

I have installed a new Linux server with x2go and would like to test this
parallel to the old Linux x2go server, but the new one does not accept the old
pxe server.

Since at that time I installed the x2go server and the pxe server together on

test the new one.

Would be great if someone can help.

Other PCs / clients work, so I suspect that there is a problem with the

[X2Go-User] Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init

2015-12-03 Thread Olaf
Hi!

My x2go-TCE actually works. But if I then want to continue to work the next
day to the system, the client loads for several minutes until it breaks then
with the message

... "Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
... "Pid: 1, comm: init Not tainted 3.2.0-486 # 1 Debian 3..68-1 + deb"
... "Call Trace"
... "? Panic + 0x4D / 0x139"
... "Do_exit? + 0x75 / 0x598"
... "Do_group_exit? + 0x48 / 0x6B"
... "Sys_exit_group? + 0x11 / 0x11"
... "? Syscall_call + 0x7 / 0x7"

A VM that I use as a thin client for testing, writes the same lines, and
behind it yet:

... "atkbd serio0: Spurious ACK on isa0060 / serio0 Some Program Might Be
Trying access hardware directly."

The whole happens if I the next day again test the system, so turn on a
client and the system is loaded. The day before, it was always perfect.

I've written in the /srv/tftp/x2go-tce.cfg:

APPEND SELINUX = permissive SELINUXTYPE = permissive

After that it was not working for one start, but after that the error comes
again.

If rebooting the server, the problem is resolved, but the next day it's back.

It would be nice if someone would help me.

Olaf
