[X2Go-User] system upgrade

2023-10-16 Thread o1bigtenor
Greetings

Just did a system upgrade (debian bookworm) and I have an updated
system except for x2go.

The following is what I am getting.
(Have tried changing bullseye to bookworm and the result is the same.)

>http://packages.x2go.org/debian/dists/bullseye/InRelease: Key is stored in
>legacy trusted.gpg >keyring (/etc/apt/trusted.gpg), see the DEPRECATION
>section in apt-key(8) for details.

Have looked for a specific technique to update the key storage.
Can't find such.
Checked with the x2go website to see if there is any somewhat current
information - - - except the website is current for - - well, some
time ago.

Please - - - any suggestions for how to remove this 'issue'?

TIA

I didn't have a problem with a reminder to be polite but when someone
is yelling it you
- - - well they deserve to have their ears boxed!

As far as cross posting - - - well I had been subscribed to the dev
list - - - it gets
almost no traffic so thought to post to the user list. I wasn't a
member there when
I sent the first message. Got the automated response that says it will
take direct
intervention for the message to post. Then I signed up for the user
list and to make sure
that the message would hit the list (listadmins sometimes take weeks
to review stuff
on lists where traffic is low in my experience!) I sent the first
message to the list
directly. Then I spent a fair amount of time and figured out the first
part of the problem
which would take less than 5 minutes for someone on the dev team to
fix (renew the public
key) and thought to send that to both the user and the dev list as
they are two separate
things - - - this message to make things easier - - - - then I get
yelled at for 'cross posting'
and told to take urgent requests with a crap load of $ to the support
team - - - and this
is open source - - - - hmm - -- - something is wrong with this picture
and your chiming in to beat on the rather dead horse isn't really
helping anything.

The response from the dev team will show how much they believe in their project.

Am I allowed to yell my response to you?

Your final comment would be more applicable if there were direction that this
was a requirement someplace besides in the first bellowed response
(which is 'only'
a complaint and not really a response as it offers no information nor advice).

I sent the first message before I subscribed to the list. That resulted in an
automated response that indicated a listadmin would need to deal with it. I
then subscribed to the list and as no communication from a listadmin had
happened assumed that the list was/is quite quiescent so sent the first email
as a list member. Then after a not small amount of time and with more than some
effort I was able to find some of the problem so at that point I forwarded that
information to both the user list, that which purports to help users,
and the dev
list so that the dev team might actually find out that their project was quite
withering on the vine as it were. I am sorry that you feel so insulted but imo
your response is quite over the top - - - especially as this issue is
not exactly new.

This final part of your message is showing that this 'volunteer' project is
actually being pushed into becoming a for-profit project. It seems that
any question to the list has this clause added - - - why?

[X2Go-User] stale dated gnupg key

2018-06-11 Thread o1bigtenor
Greetings

I had successfully installed, and have been using x2go for some time
(useful software when one has a number of computers to run!). Wanted
to install x2goserver on another machine and was running into a number
of issues. I believe I have been able to unravel the problem enough to
find at least one of the roots of not being able to install even when
following the steps published in the wiki.

My install was failing when I tried to install the apt-key and by lots
of poking and some sideways thinking I have found the issue.

Looking in the system where x2go is working happily in
/etc/apt/trusted/gpg I find that the key is liked with the following
information:

pub rsa2048 2011-03-10 [SC]
  972F D88F A0BA FB57 8D04 76DF E1F9 5838 5BFE 2B6E
uid [ unknown] X2go Debian/Ubuntu Packaging
sub rsa2048 2011-03-10 [E]

what is interesting is that of the 12 keys listed (likely not that
many compared to possibilities) the x2go key is only rsa2048 which
might be sufficient but its also listed as 2011-03-10 [E] which I
interpret to mean that the key was generated on the date 2011-03-10
but I'm thinking the [E] means that its expired.

As renewing the key is not something that I can do as a user I am
requesting that someone with the capabilities of modifying the code
might please renew and/or refresh the gnupg key and also inform users
of the new key (I am assuming that the key would change with
renewal/update). Given the rights to do so I would be more than happy
to modify the wiki to reflect that new apt-key code.

Thanking in advance those doing this - - -

(please advise if (including the how) the wiki is to be updated by myself)

[X2Go-User] installation woes

2018-06-11 Thread o1bigtenor
Greetings

I was able to setup x2go server on a couple machines about 8 months or
so ago and have found the 'system' to be a very valuable tool (it cuts
down on the need for more monitors and other peripherals).

Just recently I have be working on installing x2go on a different
system than previously and I am running into some problems. I have
been following :
https://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/doc:installation:x2goserverand
https://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:repositories:debian

The first issue that I am having is that I am unable to add the
repository keys. After typing in the command (checked and rechecked a
number of times for accuracy) I keep getting the following as a
response:
$ gpg: keyserver receive failed: No data

I have tried using search engines to find some method of resolving
this difficulty but I cannot find anything that would fit this
circumstance.

Please, how do I affect the installation of the site key?
