Furthermore these rx-only igates are breaking the R-I-R link, impossible to
get-back “ack” for instance… all theses sdr-dongle igates are painful…

Why not simply ditch the Yaesu radios. They never got aprs right. The vx-8gr at
least allow the waypoints to be pulled off the port using the same cable that
is used for the Kenwood D7 series and pipe the strings to an aprs program. One
still did not have full access to the TNC but could still get a spatial
orientation on a map.

 Hello Xastir users,

I saw this today on the APRSDroid group
and thought it would be worth
 passing on.  APRS-enabled Yaesu
radios have always been limited in the
fashion that you cannot access the TNC
say like how you can with a
 Kenwood radio.  One feature they
do have is to send the APRS data stream
 to the serial port.  This
developer wrote a program to parse that data
and send the relevant data to
 APRS-IS.   I wonder if a similar feature
 could be added to Xastir?

The following HOST would just point to 127.0.0.1. I making an assumption the
code is running on your Xastir PC.
Another assumption is that whatever it takes to run the code is also on the
PC.

Couldn't this be connected to Xastir running a server port?

In APRSIS32 (Windows) there is a server port option that allows other
"clients" to use APRSIS32 in a similar fashion as the APRS-IS. APRSIS32 will
then forward to APRS-IS.
