Re: [xcat-user] xCAT 2.15.1 released

2020-03-06 Thread Casandra H Qiu
Hi,
we hit a statelite issue during the regression test. not know how much
will be impact at that time. so we decide we will have "limited support
for statelite"
this failure test cases fixed via PR
https://github.com/xcat2/xcat-core/pull/6627 today.

Are u using statelite? please open the issue if you are running into
problem.

Thanks,
Casandra Qiu

Hi Mark, thanks for the release.

May I ask a question?

Regarding this: • Limited support for statelite

This happened due to deprecation of stateless machines with root over NFS
from Red Hat? Which seems to be the case of xCAT statelite method.

How xCAT handles the stateless method? Can’t something similar be made?
Since it does not appear to be something standard or default with
Enterprise Linux.

Thanks,

Re: [xcat-user] xCAT 2.15.1 released

2020-03-06 Thread Nathan A Besaw
Vinícius,

Specifically for RHEL 8.1 and SLES 15 we are still debugging some issues
related to statelite and confignetwork and plan to address them in a future
release.
For xCAT 2.15.1, we wanted to make RHEL 8.1 and SLES 15 available for any
early adopters that are interested in stateful/stateless provisioning but
provide guidance that statelite is not yet fully functional for those OS
distributions.

Do you make use of statelite in any of your clusters? If so, which OS
distributions are you using or planning to use in those clusters?
