Subject: [xcat-user] vmware server as XCAT management node?

Hello all,

My question is regarding virtual nodes. I have read here
https://github.com/xcat2/xcat-core/issues/5673<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://github.com/xcat2/xcat-core/issues/5673__;!!DZ3fjg!tvY6aYBwuPt3rAhV3UK1KatS_bpuI5hZxMOkLx5QfvI71YxGt14OmKMQyHYYgQkLBA$>:

“…All supported scenario are listed
here<https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://xcat-docs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/advanced/sysclone/sysclone.html*list-of-supported-arch-and-os__;Iw!!DZ3fjg!tvY6aYBwuPt3rAhV3UK1KatS_bpuI5hZxMOkLx5QfvI71YxGt14OmKMQyHbt6zhGDw$>
and all development environments based on physical machine, NOT support
virtual machine"

So, is it possible that a VMware virtual server acts as xCAT management server,
managing physical servers (clients) ?

Our systems are RHEL 7.8 (management node and clients)

Thanks

Regards

Yes it is totally possible and if done right there's actually no drawbacks.

For computing nodes the scenario is different.
