Re: [XFree86] Ati drivers (DRI) slow
I attach the XFree86.log, my config is : - P4 2GHz - Ati Fire GL 9000 - Kernel 2.4.22 - Xfree 4.3.0-r3 - Xfree-drm 4.3.0-r6 I run a Gentoo ~x86 I have test with glxgears, with the ATI drivers I run 6x more than the DRI drivers With the DRI drivers when I page-up page-down on vi, my CPU goes to 60% .. And strange things, the font seams to be different (larger with the DRI). In the kernel I have unset the CONFIG_DRM. [XFree86] Ati drivers (DRI) slow
Hi, I have a laptop with an R250 (fire GL 9000), I have tried the first CVS version of the DRI drivers for the radeon and it works well. But now when I use the package xfree-drm, the drivers are realy slow. I realy don't understand, if someone have a solution .. A second question, I use the ATI drivers (version 2.9.8). When I swith to the TV it's perfect. But when I upgrade the drivers, the picture was cut. I see only the middle of the screen. (if you know if there is a forum for the ATI drivers ?) I already have a working configuration for both my xinerama and my mono monitor with two layout (I attach my XF86Config with this email). That what I would do it's to automatically detect if a monitor is connected to my analog D-SUB VGA Connector of my laptop, and if yes, start X with the layout support Xinerama, and if no, start X with the simple layout with only one monitor. So my question is : Does someone know a command or a package, within X or indepently (specific or not to a particular card), to detect which monitor is attached to a card ? [XFree86] Test VGA interface
Hi, I would like to know if it is possible with standard xfree features to know if a display is connected to a particular VGA interface or if it is specific to the hardware/driver used. For information, I have a nvidia card and I use the binary driver from NVIDIA. The goal is to start a different layout in function of connected display. [XFree86] Bug ATI radeon 9000 mobility
I noted a little bug in the radeon drivers. When I switch from my screen (of my laptop) to my TV-OUT. The display comes very luminous. For information, on the Compaq laptop (maybe all the laptop) using the ATI mobility 9000 (r250), when you close the screen the display automatically sweetch on the TV-OUT. It works in the BIOS, in the prompt and in XFree modes. I think that a bug because the drivers provided by ATI don't do that. I check the gamma, it didn t change. I use XFree 4.2.99.4 release date : 20 January 2003 I have an ATI mobility radeon 9000 Fire GL (r250) -- Chimou <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ___ XFree86 mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xfree86

Re: [XFree86] ATI Radeon 9100 Support
You could use the ATI drivers under any distribution and any kernel (2.4). use the rpm2targz decompress the archive and install it go into the directory /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod sh make.sh cd .. sh make_install.sh it will compile the drivers for your kernel.
