Re: [XFree86] Cannot run X on a ia64

2004-07-05 Thread De Leeuw Guy
But why XFree 4.1 run on RH AS 2.1 and not on XFree 4.3 on debian ?

You are running a much newer kernel on the debian system. If you downgrade to,
say, 2.4.26, things would likely work again.
Yes, but I upgrade the kernel just for trying another way for this
 problem.
The orginal kernel, I think that the 2.4.24

Note that I am _not_ saying that this is a kernel problem. It's just that,
over time, the kernel is becoming smarter about ACPI than the X server can
  currently handle.

Hello,
I mount my redhat partition on /mnt/rh
I move /usr/X11R6 to /usr/X11R6-debian
I link /mnt/rh/usr/X11R6/ /usr/X11R6
I copy /mnt/rh/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
startx
And I have a beautiful kde under debian sarge and kernel 2.6.7

How can see the differences between xfree-4.1 and 4.3, I think that a module are
missing in my configuration.

Thanks in advance for your help
Guy

   has yet to be written.
