[XFree86] clarification about mergedfb and radeon cards
Just to clarify: Is mergedfb support for Radeon cards built in to snapshots >= 4.3.99.10, or do the snapshots still need to be patched??? Thanks! ___ XFree86 mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xfree86
Re: [XFree86] dual heads/single card help please
OK. Once again, Radeon 7500, XFree86 4.3.99.12. Trying to use mergedfb with dri acceleration. It seems like no matter what I try, I get the following log message: (WW) RADEON(0): Option "MergedFB" is not used Accompanied by this, are two monitors both displaying the same picture, but a scrolling, double wide work area. Attached is a complete copy of my log output, and current config, thanks go to Alex. I know there is a bunch of other cleanup to do in my config, but I'm just trying to get mergedfb to run right now. There doesn't seem to be a man page... >From what I see in your config, it doesn't seem like mergedfb supports different resolutions on each display. I don't mind running the same sync and depth, but I need different resolutions on each display. Also, is it possible to layout the monitors using absolute statements? (instead of RightOf, LeftOf, etc.) I'm sorry to be asking so many questions, but I don't understand the source to read it, and documentation seems to be lacking at this point. See: > http://bugs.xfree86.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276 ...)). Hey, thanks again for the pointers, two heads are better than one! I've still got some font issues to hammer out but no big deal... I do seem to be having trouble with DRI though, and what little info I find about mergedfb for radeons is over my head, likely because it is not officially released yet... I'm not sure if that is something I need manually or what... - (WW) RADEON(0): Direct Rendering Disabled -- Dual-head configuration is not working with D RI at present. Please use only one Device/Screen section in your XFConfig file. - Anyway, I've posted new logs and my config again. I'm sure there are probably some driver options or modules I am missing. http://ericspeaks.com/xf86config-3.txt http://ericspeaks.com/xfree86.0.log-3.txt http://ericspeaks.com/glxinfo-3.txt BTW, outside of the message in the logs, if I run glxgears, I get a blank, black box on one monitor, and when dragged over to the other I get the gears, but very very slow. While I'm waiting, do you have any tips on a successful build or config samples for my setup on 4.3.99.10? I have never compiled X before, and I've learned that just being comfortable with compiling software will not help avoid troubles when you try a new package for the first time... [XFree86] dual heads/single card help please
ok, i'm about at the end of my rope here i've been working on this for over 20 hours and can't get it to go. i have an ati radeon 7500 dual head card (two vga ports, not the one with dvi :-) ), and i've managed to get both cards to come up when x starts. i'm running kde 3.1.3 as my destop (don't know if that matters) and when it starts, the wallpaper is streched across both screens, and the login window appears on the right. when i login, the kde splash screen appears on the left screen, and the right screen immediately goes into power-save mode. if i don't log in, and simply drap the mouse over to the left monitor, the right monitor immediately goes into power save mode when the mouse hits the edge. here is a copy of my XF86Config file: http://ericspeaks.com/xf86config-2.txt and here is a copy of the xfree log file: http://ericspeaks.com/xfree86.0.log-2.txt if there is any more info i can post that will be helpful, please let me know and i'll get it right up. i've scoured google, the docs, newsgroups, etc. and i'm just plain stuck :-( any help that anybody can lend me will be much appreciated. ciao! ___ XFree86 mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xfree86
