I'm a bit confused now, never noticed such warnings and OO is surely not the

Cursor seems to be typedef'ed in X.h, but gcc (in my case 3.2.2) seems to be
right, no header is included that defines Cursor.
Any ideas?

[XFree86] XFree 4.3 Refreshrate/Modeline Issues

2003-03-06 Thread Ede Wolf
Hello,

I have XFree4.3 running with an (original) Ati Radeon8500. Xfree does start, however,
the refreshrate is stuck @60Hz, no matter what I enter as value for VertRefresh.
Using the Modelines that worked for Xfree4.2 to get back to 100Hz, the X Server will
crash at startup. Anything changed that I missed or other solutions anyone could think
of ? Will of course appreciate any help or thoughts.

Regards

[XFree86] Cursors in XFree

2003-02-07 Thread Fabian Wolf
Hi,

I need to determine the size (width and height) of the currently shown mouse
cursor (especially important for those nice new Xcursors), can anyone give me
some hints on where to start? Do I find suitable functions in Xlib.h or maybe
Xcursor.h... or maybe somewhere else?
Second question: Is it possible to tell XFree to change the currently active
cursor theme on the fly from within my program?

Thanks in advance,
Fabian

You can switch to another cursor theme with an X resource:

 Xcursor.theme: whiteglass

will select the other theme provided in current XFree86 sources.

I'm very interested in getting some more cursors for XFree86 4.3; I keep
hoping we'll find someone able to do a better job than me. I've solicited
many people without success to date...

How would I change the cursor theme on the fly, w/o restarting X? Preferably
from within a program. I would like to add that option to KDE's kcontrol
mouse module. And then, what do I have to check for to see if the installed
XFree version supports those nice cursor themes?

Thanx in advance,
Fabian

Hi,

export XCURSOR_THEME=whiteglass

might help ;)

Re: [Newbie]DVI und CRT - X startup sets monitor to standby

2002-05-02 Thread Ede Wolf

Yes. The DVI Port on the monitor understands VGA as well as DVI. You get
two cables provided, one DVI-DVI and one VGA-DVI. Nec calles this
ambix, but I guess this is just marketing and no real technical term.
Besides, the monitor has an extra VGA port, too, so you can switch
between both (if connecting to second PC, f.e.).
So, using VGA-DVI works, DVI-DVI does not work

Does that mean that the monitor has a built-in DVI-VGA adaptor? So you
can dual-head with two CRTs using both the CRT-out and DVI-out ports on
the 7500 without having to stick an adaptor on the DVI port?

[Newbie]DVI und CRT - X startup sets monitor to standby

2002-04-29 Thread Ede Wolf

Hello,

I've got that shiny new CRT monitor wich does support DVI. Since I have
an Radeon7500 graphics card, I thought I'd use it instead of that
classical analog cable.
Somehow, X does not start up at all (when Option CRTScreen is
commented out) or it does start up straight to standby and does not wake
up (when Option CRTScreen is set to True).
Works fine, when I use the RGB out on the graphics card, however.

When comenting out crtscreen, I get an error message:

(II) RADEON(0): If you have an analog monitor attached but no DFP/LCD
tryspecifying
'Option CrtScreen' in your X serverconfig file.

As said before, when using option crtscreen, the monitor goes into
standy. It does make no difference wether I use or comment out the
horizontal or vertical Refreshrate
I am using FreeBSD 4.5-stable and XFree4.2

The XF86.log file (for CRT true), followed by my XF86config:

[Newbie]Unresolved Symbols on Radeon7500 ?

2002-04-26 Thread Ede Wolf

Hello all,

I do get this message on the console that startet X running XFree4.2 on
FreeBSD 4.5 stable. Everything seem to work fine (besides DRI), so I am
basically curious wether this is normal, FreeBSD specific or has alway
been there and I just did not notice it.
