[XFree86] Use x-win32 to connect the RH8.0

2003-10-17 Thread johnny
Hello!
I got a trouble when I use x-win32(based on win2000) to connect rh8.0.
I'd already changed the follow files:
1./etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config: change the line DisplayManager.requestPort:0 to
''!DisplayManager.requestPort:0'
2.add a line in Xaccess file in the same dir:
#* #any host can get a login window
   10.4.0.*
3.My computer is already config to login use GUI interface.
I think that is already fit the X-win32 requirement. The port 177 and 7100 is listening
now:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] johnny]$ netstat -ln |grep 177
udp0 0 0.0.0.0:177 0.0.0.0:*
[EMAIL PROTECTED] johnny]$ netstat -ln |grep 7100
unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 1442 /tmp/.font-unix/fs7100

But when I run xterm or other GUI programs by secureCRT(ssh) on my win2000 PC,i got
an error below:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] johnny]$ xterm
xterm Xt error: Can't open display:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] johnny]$ gaim
[1] 1916
[EMAIL PROTECTED] johnny]$
Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:

[1]+ Exit 1 gaim

What's the problem?I choosed middle level firewall when i install my rh8,is it's
problem? If the problem is the firewall, how to disable it?i don't know the config file.

Pls help me,thanks a lot!

Best regards!

[XFree86] X configuration on IBM Thinkpad A22p

2003-07-10 Thread Johnny Jones
I'm trying to get linux (Suse 8.1) running on my A22p Thinkpad but so
far I haven't had any success. I've read one instance where someone
installed an older version and it worked fine, then upgraded and it kept
the same settings. I tried doing this also. I used Suse 7.3 and it
came up just fine. However, when I upgraded to 8.0, it took a
nosedive. It picks up the ATI Mobility M4 chip just fine. I just can't
get it to use any of the monitor profiles for the lcd. Below are the
XFConfig and the log file:

[Xpert]4.2.0 + G200 + 2.4.17 crash

2002-01-22 Thread Johnny Andersson

Hi everyone. This is my first post to the list, hope my next subject can be a
happier one...

I recently installed 4.2.0 on top of my old 4.1.0 installation. X doesn't
start now, it crashes with a signal 11 before displaying anything. This is
true for both binaries compiled by me, and binaries downloaded from
xfree86.org.

The system in question is a Duron 900 (unaffected by the recently discovered
page-size-bug because the kernel is compiled for i386), kernel 2.4.17 with
pre-emptive patch, Matrox G200 video card.

The very same system worked very well with 4.1.0. What can I do to find what
is wrong?

No I am not using HAL library.

 if you are dont load
it.It's not a problem specifically with X because it works fine here. I
cant help you about the redhat aspect of it though. I compile it locally. I
was only aware of this problem being X specific back in the 4.0.x series.

The xfree 4.1.0 that I am using have I downloaded from Redhat.
