I've responded to about five of these today, so don't feel so bad. 
Mostly RHL9 users.   There's a lot of threads on Linux lists about
incomplete XFree86 RPMSs.  Check to see that they're all there w/
rpm(1).

After a "good" completion of the install, during the first boot

1)  X is never able to start.
2)  An endless loop error messages and attempted recoveries then 
follows.
3)  No other modes or solutions are offered, system is useless.
