Just taken this for a run on 1.6-branch and get this:

X Error of failed request:  BadLength (poly request too large or 
internal Xlib length error)
   Major opcode of failed request:  152 (RANDR)
   Minor opcode of failed request:  15 ()
   Serial number of failed request:  18
   Current serial number in output stream:  18


1.2.99.3 works OK (even a fresh recompile).
