After Debian upgrade, X will hang machine showing only a black screen
Niltze! After a Debian distribution upgrade [apt-get dist-upgrade] my 3-month-old X build [X.Org X Server 1.15.99.902 (1.16.0 RC 2) Release Date: 2014-04-08] does not function properly anymore in a machine with Intel i915. I have since then built X from section: Build Process Based on build.sh Script at http://www.x.org/wiki/Building_the_X_Window_System/ [X.Org X Server 1.16.99.1 Release Date: 2014-07-17] with no success either. I've noticed in both old and new Xorg.0.log files the following lines: [ 374.377] (II) intel(0): switch to mode 1366x768@60.0 on LVDS1 using pipe 0, position (0, 0), rotation normal, reflection none [ 374.377] (EE) intel(0): failed to set mode: Permission denied Thus I assume that my Debian upgrade changed something that affected the permissions to set X adequately. Any insights suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. Best Professional Regards. -- Jose R R http://www.metztli-it.com - NEW Apache OpenOffice 4.1.0! If we can't run our DDX, we don't have a path to support GLX direct rendering under Wayland. I know we don't have anything publicly available for Wayland at the moment, but as I've alluded to publicly a few times, we are actively working on support and this certainly throws a wrench into things. After newest xserver build, Google Chrome Chromium browser issue.
Niltze- X.Org X Server 1.15.99.900 (1.16.0 RC 0) Release Date: 2014-01-09 After the latest x.org build ( http://www.x.org/wiki/Building_the_X_Window_System/ ) on GNU/Linux Debian, *both* Google's Chrome and open source Chromium display window become corrupted -- either immediately or subsequently upon moving the pointer across the browser: ( https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Be5ixAxCUAA5Arl.png:large ). The changing image in a YouTube video is not affected until *after* it stops: ( https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Be5rORXCYAAEKu1.png:large ) Oddly, the other browsers, i.e., Iceweasel (Firefox), Opera, and Epiphany, are not affected. I have repeated the build on a clean directory and the issue remains. I have no idea what is causing it but X.Org X Server 1.15.0 Release Date: 2013-12-27 did not exhibit that issue.
