See above.

I'm afraid that's over my head, no idea what that function is for.

I wonder if it has to do with some artifacts I get on two of my screens right
after I log in and
before the desktop (Xfce) finishes loading?

These artifacts do not show up again if I stop and restart the X server or if I
log out and back
in. Only when I am boot/reboot the rig.

It seems to be harmless but it is a (WW) entry.

Thanks in advance.

What version of the X server are you using? If I'm reading things
correctly, this implies that you're using xserver 1.9 or older, but your
server doesn't export the fbGetGCPrivateKey() function for some reason.

This function is only used on older GPUs when workstation overlays are
enabled, so if you aren't enabling those I think it should be harmless.

I have searched all over the web and have found a great deal on posts/instances
in which
this same error is cited (as an entry in a Xorg.0.log file) but have not been
able to find out
why it is there and if has some significance.

After all, it is labelled as a warning ie: (WW).

It is (apparently) innocuous as my NVidia cards are working properly (save for
an artifacts
issue reserved for another post).

I'd appreciate if someone could give me some insight on this.

Thanks in advance.
