Bug ID: 93765
Summary: Complete system freeze on resume wake up from suspend
-- BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at
c90402435ffc
   Product: xorg
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
  Severity: critical
  Priority: medium
 Component: Driver/Radeon
  Assignee: xorg-driver-ati@lists.x.org
  Reporter: chris.tar...@yahoo.com
QA Contact: xorg-t...@lists.x.org

Created attachment 121122
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=121122&action=edit
These are the errors I find in the logs.

I'm running on a fresh install of openSUSE Leap 42.1 with a Radeon 6850 card
with default kernel (4.1.13-5) and open source drivers. The issue is when I
resume from suspend. After about 5 seconds of normal operation, the system just
hangs completely. I cannot switch ttys, but I can do ALT + PrntScrn + REISUB.
The only way to be able to use the machine is to do a full power cycle.

I tried the latest kernel as of today for Leap 42.1 (4.4.0-3.1.g75554c0) and it
experiences the same problem, but even worse. The system hangs randomly at
anytime.

I also have an Ubuntu 14.04.3 install on another partition with kernel
3.19.0.43 with fglrx drivers, and it also experiences the same issue.

I've attached parts of the relevant output from journalctl.

That works as well, so since TearFree does implicate that, it's probably
EnablePageFlip, that fixes it.

Could you explain me how to to identify what you refer to the "actual patch"? I
am not so accustomed to kernel patching, I just followed this guidelines
https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/applying-patches.txt
with Ubuntu kernel sources 4.2.0
I will retry however using 4.3.0 sources as soon as possible.
