I can't tell from that log fragment. Signal 4 usually means that an unresolved function was called. Can you build a static version of the X server, and try with that? I830DetectDisplayDevice() is called right after the function that printed the gamma message, so I guess that's where it's crashing. I don't see any obvious place that this might be happening.
