As soon as humanly possible, do a complete set of smartctl tests on all this laptop's drives. One of many explanations for a bunch of bad sectors is a hard drive beginning to go bad. If you find out the drive is bad, use System Rescue CD to copy off all your data from any bad drives. [xubuntu-users] Need help with needing help and support
HelloI humbly need your help because I am out of options. I realize this is not a help list, but I am reaching maximum frustration.I am trying to log in to the xubuntu irc help channel. When I go to https://xubuntu.org/irc/ it tells me to log in via the interface below. However, my screen shows no interface below. I have tried switching browsers (firefox to MS Edge) and updating java, to no avail. Where there should be an interface, there is a large blank surrounded by a rounded off rectangle.Any help you can give for how to join the IRC xubuntu help chat (with which I have had great luck before) would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.P. Hi Marc, good point - it does work under Windows. Laptop is connected to the monitor/TV over HDMI. Hmm hmm if the PCIE card does not have a VGA or HDMI connector? (I suppose it will NOT work on windows either.) Marc -- The "Penguin" has arrived - and he's not going away - ever. [xubuntu-users] Intel graphic card - dual display doesnt work
Hi, my OS: Xubuntu 16.04.2 LTS My laptop has 2 graphic cards: nvidia and built-in CPU intel. I prefer to use intel as it is power saving option. The problem is that I cannot connect my laptop to external monitor when using intel. Eg. when I connect it via HDMI, it cannot see external monitor. However if I switch to nvidia card it sees another display with no problem. I use latest intel and nvidia (proprietary) drivers. Does anyone know what might be the problem?
