Re: [xubuntu-users] Where is cifs-utils?

2018-04-18 Thread Tim Uckun
Thanks I see it now. Looks like the standard repos were disabled for some
reason.

BTW I am running the 18.04 beta will this automatically be upgraded when
the final release comes or do I have to re-install.

I am really hoping some of the broken stuff gets fixed by then.

I did the exact same thing. Odd.

Re: [xubuntu-users] A Bionic Experience

2018-04-07 Thread Tim Uckun
So far 18.04 has been pretty flaky. Many settings don't seem to take until
you log out and log back in. The touchpad sometimes ignores taps and scroll
motions too.

BTW I think Xubuntu should remap the Super-R to whisker menu instead of
application finder. The application finder is ugly and requires an extra
keystroke to launch your app.

Re: [xubuntu-users] A Bionic Experience

2018-04-07 Thread Tim Uckun
I have been running 17.10 for about two weeks and decided to run 18 04 to
test to see if some of my annoyances were fixed. One thing that hasn't
been fixed is that when you are trying to attach bluetooth devices you only
get the GUID of the device and not the name of the device. In my case I
have other computers nearby and many devices so it's super confusing to try
and figure out which mouse and keyboard (or phone or whatever) I am trying
to connect to. Also when trying to connect a keyboard it doesn't have a
visual display showing you the numbers you are typing in which is similarly
annoying.

Also the default icons set looks horrid with a dark theme.

I am currently testing the behavior of the power management when plugged in
to power and a monitor. Last version did not keep my settings and reverted
to mirroring. Let's see what happens.

OK I'll try that. It does seem a little odd and cumbersome though.
