[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 2012979] [NEW] Server list in both dashboard and command line takes a long time with many images

2023-03-27 Thread tom king
Public bug reported:

First, please pardon me if this has already been dealt with in newer
releases. Our OpenStack is Train.

Our environment has thousands of images including snapshots.

When listing instances, both by command line and in the dashboard, the
instance list takes quite a while and apparently goes through all images
in the background. Please see the attached text file for an example, a
project with five instances taking over 21 seconds to list the
instances.

In contrast, using '-n' in the command will list those same instances in
less than a second. Of course, the dashboard has no such option.

If feasible, can Nova only pull the images related to the instances
rather than pulling every single image in the Glance repository?

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1835958] [NEW] Nova sync power state on large clusters causes poor performance

2019-07-09 Thread tom king
Public bug reported:

In a vSphere-backed OpenStack, a fair number of instance actions
(creating an instance, live-migrating an instance, and detaching
interfaces for examples) cause a Nova sync power process to be kicked
off.

Large compute clusters (thousands of VMs) suffer bad performance when an
instance action kicks off multiple syncs. For example, instance creation
can take anywhere from 5 - 20 minutes if many of these syncs are in
flight.

Some of these syncs shouldn't process the entire cluster if they are
specific to the instance, unless there are some other hidden/unknown
considerations. A sync of a single instance that is having its interface
detached shouldn't require a sync of the entire cluster.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1667778] [NEW] Show MAC to IP map in Horizon

2017-02-24 Thread tom king
Public bug reported:

Feature request, please let me know if this needs to go elsewhere.

Users with multi-interface instances have no simple method to find which
MAC address corresponds to which IP address in Horizon. A good first
implementation may be a port list for all ports in the project, and
later allow for per-instance filtering.
