[Zappa-List] Vine offer-3/11/73 (from EZT)
I'd like to offer this as a vine. FLAC would be easiest, and here's why. There is some really cool artwork involved made from photos taken at the actual concert, and some of the photos are included on the disc also. Have you ever seen Frank with a Telecaster? Neither have I! Anyway, we've vined this show before, but this version sounds much better. I can do audio discs, and include a data disc with the artwork and photos. Please e-me offlist and we'll get this thing going. Below is a cut-and paste from the text file. Larry Frank Zappa 1973-03-11 Texas Hall UTA Arlington Texas (Gesture of Contempt) (T-34) from the original analog tapes Band Members: Frank Zappa - Jean-Luc Ponty - Bruce Fowler - Ian Underwood - Tom Fowler - Ruth Underwood - George Duke - Ralph Humphrey I'm the guy who recorded this show. I have the original analog cassette tapes of it. Over the years I have traded analog tape copies but until now have never done a digital transfer of it. This is the first and only time it has been digitally transferred from the original analog cassette tapes. The bonus material is from UG at what used to be the Zappa Archives (ZARK). Section B is a little left of center and Row C is the 3rd row from the stage. Mics: Sony ECM 19B Recorder: Realistic SCT-7 Stereo Cassette Recorder Tape: Maxell Ultra Dynamic C-90 cassettes the Original Analog Cassette Tapes Playback Deck: Tascam 130 Nikko 32 Band EQ Akai DR16 Digital Hard Disk Recorder Sony PCM-R500 DAT Recorder Sony DAT Tape HHB CDR-800 Compact Disc Recorder HHB CDR WAV SHN I have also done the artwork for this version of this show. Pictures taken the night of the show by D. Knarr. I really have never liked the practice of giving titles to live shows but I understand one of the reasons people do it is to distinguish between different versions of the same show. I felt like I needed to give this one a title due to the other inferior versions that exist. Please keep the artwork and text file, unaltered, together with the SHN's. Disc 1 1. (intro and tune up) 2. RDNZL 3. Exercise 4 / Dog Breath / The Dog Breath Variations / Uncle Meat 4. Fifty-Fifty 5. (deviation explaination) 6. Ralph Deviates First (with audience participation including the imaginary diseases of the future story) 7. Inca Roads 8. Montana 9. George Duke's Solo 10. (improvisations including The Mystery Song #2) Disc 2 1. Mr. Green Genes / King Kong / Chunga's Revenge / Mr. Green Genes (reprise) Bonus Material: 2. Kansas Is Fer Real (The Mothers after a show approx. 1968 or 1969 backstage and in the van going to get something to eat.) __ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - 250MB free storage. Do more. Most of the vines are in Audio CD format even though it might have originated as flac or shn files. Some people just don't want to deal with flac or shn files. Certainly if you have a high speed connection there is a huge amount of FZ shows available at easytree. Re: [Zappa-List] Q about the Halloween '81 DVD
Thanks Jim! I think you put me in business too. Larry --- Jim L [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Doesn't sound right to me Carsten. I had hit and miss luck burning them that way. I finally broke down and invested in some software to burn video DVDs. Actually with a pre authored VIDEO_TS folder The software I use just utilizes the DVD copy portion of the program but I guess it still burns it as a video DVD. You could try this version of Burn At Once that has a video DVD burning segment built in. It worked well for me with a VIDEO_TS folder but it was discontinued in the newer version because it wasn't compatible with all drives. Works best with Windows 2000 or XP. http://www.whynotdesignz.com/free/bao099b.exe It's even free software. I opened my shirt when Frank took the stage with Black Napkins or Chunga, I forget. Bald John saw me,sent security, took my deck and my bro in law to the front of the Brady and John appeared took the tape and crushed it in his hand then stepped on it. What a night though!! Two shows then I went to OKC the next day for a show at the Zoo. Carry on mateys! Arrg! Chris Cool story! At least you got busted by John, the big man. And it's nice that only the tape was crushed. You got the discs from me. I made two copies. I sent one copy to you, and the other to Skip. The person who sent me the discs (J. Lonon on the address label, sorry I've forgotten the e-mail address you post to Z-List from) warned me in advance that when he recieved the discs, the segues were not continuous on the first disc. That is, there's maybe 2 seconds (or slightly more on some songs) missing at the end of each track, as if the discs had at one point been burned with 2-second gaps between songs which were later edited out by the next person, resulting in these jarring segues. On my copy, this is only the case on the first disc, the second one is fine. So, my question is, did the vine start in this condition? Is *everyone's* copy like this? Or did something go wrong somewhere along the line. Again, I don't want to continue distributing the disc if there's an error that shouldn't be and for my own personal brand of anal quasi-perfectionism, I really want to know if a non-screwup-having copy is circulating among the people on the vine before me, so that *I* can listen to the show without being irritated by the segues. So who can help me out on this one? --Milhouse __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com Yahoo!
