Cool. But again, it's the Caiman installer bundled with SXCE (via the
SXDE boot option), that'll get ZFS support, right?

(Just got reminded about asking for it, because I've tried using it on
build 83 for my new laptop, but refrained because I can't edited the
slices in it. ZFS root and boot would be a different thing).

Yeah, it's Live Upgrade, thanks for that. That's really a great news the
feature should be working along with zfs-aware installer, that's one major
thing SXCE lags behind Indiana.

Thanks for the great news.

You mean Live Upgrade? It's being worked on as we speak to make it
zfs-aware. It should be available at the same time the zfs-aware
installer is made available.

Hi Lori,

Do you happen to know any update on Live Update zfs support?

Thanks,
Ivan.

At this point, it's regular zvols with some bugs fixed
so that they work for swap.

Is this the non-COW swap?

Also, what other things are coming with ZFS boot in b87? Or is it just
support for it in the installer?

But I think, that unless we wait until b87 as Lori said, we won't have a
completely "swap integrated in ZFS root", for example.

If you install OpenSolaris Developer Preview (ie Indiana) rather than
Solaris Express it is the default (probably only actually) config.

[zfs-discuss] zfs boot, status anyone

2008-03-09 Thread Paul Gress
Hi,

I just purchased a new laptop and would like to set it up to boot from
ZFS. I read in newsgroups that it was predicted to be included into
b83, but this apparently didn't happen. Is there any prediction when
this may be available?

Thanks,

Paul
