Except that we would lose millions of jobs during the transition from a personal vehicle society to a mass transit one. One thing I've come to believe is that personal access to transportation is as important to freedom as is the right to bear arms. Guess what I've been working on? Here's some data I've been collecting recently. The first column is how much gas actually was way back when. The second column is how much we would have to pay for that same gallon of gas using today's dollars. The third number is the percentage of the 1950 price that we pay today. We're doing well ladies and gentlemen. BTW, I pay about $3.60/gal for gas here in Japan. Gas (Unleaded Regular 1 Gal.)
