[1st] G3 NewerTech dips switches?

2005-03-06 Thread Mike Nicewonger
Hi all, I have a PowerCenter 132 I'd like to install a used NewerTech Maxpowr G3 225MHz accelerator into. After much frustration looking through the search results via Google the two silly questions I have are: 1. What settings on the DIP switches 2. I'm running 9.1 what drivers will I need?

1. What settings on the DIP switches All up. 2. I'm running 9.1 what drivers will I need? You will need the MaxPowr INIT in order to properly set the cache mode. Remove the motherboard's cache card. -- 1st-PowerMacs is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Small Dog Electronics

Mike N, I have a PowerCenter 132... That's a PCI-based Power Mac clone, I believe. You can ask here, but you may have more luck on the PCI Power Macs list. I know all about the Nubus NewerTech accelerator, but not much about the PCI versions. - Ken -- 1st-PowerMacs is sponsored by

Card is in and the machine boots up just fine. System profiler says PPC 604e @ 241 MHz. Is that right? Is the card not a G3? No, should still say G3. Even a NewerTech G3 card with a defective backside cache is seen as a G3, although the MaxPowr INIT will crash the machine because that cache

I know all about the Nubus NewerTech accelerator, but not much about the PCI versions. The NuBus NewerTech accelerator, which has NO DIP switches, requires a PDS slot. Some models offer HPV Pass-through, which actually works for more than just the HPV card. These are rock-solid below 300
