Many Macintoshes show that symptoms (or very simmilar ones) when the PRAM battery is dead. If that is the case, you can test it this way: power it on, wait about 10-15 seconds, and then rapidly switch it off an on, leaving it powered off for about 1/2 or 1/3 of a second. If the computer boots f

I have a Color Classic that sat at school over the summer last year and would not start up at all when I got back. It worked fine all school year. I get nothing but silence and a black screen. Could the pram battery be causing this? I have the same problem with another all-in-one Mac...a 540, I
