tell the truth i don't even own any of moby's music.

I went to a highschool for the performing arts (dance program - yes, like

Richie's Kricket.
It was freaking hysterical. I just watched the tape a couple weeks
ago and if Rich saw it, he'd probably cry.

The way I see your explanation, the problem is not Moby - but MTV. Say they
suddenly decide to label Duke Ellington as techno, and that's the only
techno they show in their programs, will it change anything to the quality
of Duke Ellington's music ? Should Duke Ellington be blamed because millions

What is funny is that Moby's label, at

UVS ? that would be very interesting - but I thought they were British ?

Should Duke Ellington be blamed because millions
of stupid american teenagers will associate big band jazz with techno ?
I would expect Duke Ellington, if he were alive to do so, wouldn't be so
complicit in an attempted rewrite of musical history. It's not a case of
taking sole responsibility

That won't happen... Moby knows what sells... He tries
to please the mainstream... Duke Ellington did what he
wanted to do and his stuff has a place in music
history... The difference between Ellington and Moby
is that Duke Ellington isn't a sellout... People that

Hello,
this is way ot, but yeah he was in flipper. I seriously doubt he was working
with Ed Ralske in UVS. I do not think that UVS was a british band. Ed is
doing microsound these days and running a lable called Mau Mau
International. I believe that he is based in the mid-west these days.
Hello,
BVL politely reminded me that the guy from UVS/Mau-mau International is

This is funny because when I interviewed him he denied being a memeber of

The only problem I might say I have with Moby, and not that I really lose any

techno tunes in the past. His stuff as Voodoo child was wicked at the time,
but I remember reading an interview with him where he stated he hated

i picked up the new issue of URB yesterday and it had Richie Hawtin on the
cover. there is a whole article in there on plus 8, and the bonus CD
contains 3 tracks from plus 8 classics. also DJ Rolando was mentioned as
one of the next 100 in their annual issue. as was technaisia. its a decent
there is a 3 record set that contains many of the tracks on master mix, and
they are all unmixed. i should have bought it when i had the chance, but i
was told by the owner of the store that the mastermix was unmixed so i
bought that instead because it had more tracks. i feel ripped off. better
Yeah, Moby on Spin, Hawtin on URB...some kind of baldhead conspiracy, for
sure. You may also want to check out the latest Mojo (w/the Smiths on the
cover): toward the back they have a 'Guide to Buying Detroit Techno'
listing about 10 essential albums. 'Faces Phases', 'Innovator', 'More
Songs...',
WHAT! after I spent days getting a raiding party
together for the attack on the URB offices! we can't
back out now! we've gone too far!!! what do you expect
me to tell all of these pirates!!! no we can't sack
URB anymore, Jeff isn't pissed any longer...I can
already see their little piratey hearts
