 Definitely, because it does NOT create this file with os's before High Sierra.
Why is v15 not displaying this behavior ? It's definitely something with
v13.6. & High Sierra.
I will apply a cleanup-method after I export the file, in the way Chip Scheide
suggested and will work on this the coming days.

In this case I run the 4D database v13.6 either compiled or interpreted with
the mac 4D app in High Sierra, in the regular Applications folder that you find
on the root.
It's not a standalone .app. Have not tried that one yet.

The settings --> Database --> Temporary Folder Location is not set and the
radiobutton of the 3 choices, the middle one, is set: Data File Folder.
Current (location) is empty, as is Choose a folder line.
However the folder "Temporary" I encounter in my Data File Folder ( is where
I have the structure & datafile and the Resource Folder ) is empty. I do find
the .temp file in the Resource Folder.

Thank all for their input.
Greetings

Re: 4D 64-bit font darkness

I was looking on Mac. It seems to be across the board. Lucida Grande and the
High Sierra system font (can't think of the name - San Francisco?) are probably
the most used.

Re: Flexible SVG ID Strategy

2018-06-06 Thread Tom DeMeo via 4D_Tech
Hi John,

I understand there are cases where you might build an SVG interface using 4D
commands instead of using javascript in a web area. But when you want to do
drag and drop, that is probably the use case that will most benefit from using
javascript. You can use a parent/child technique that works so well in js. Your
IDs can just be auto assigned and can relate to the IDs of your associated 4D
data.

RE: 4D 64-bit font darkness

2018-06-06 Thread Tai Bui via 4D_Tech
Hi,

What parts of 4D?

On Windows, I opened 32-bit and 64-bit 4D v17 side by side and didn't see any
seemingly noticeable difference between the two in terms of 4D's UI, the method
editor, and a simple text variable object on a detail form.

I did notice that the font on the Welcome Wizard was a bit different though.

Best Regards,
-Tai B.

Has anyone noticed that 4D 64-bit has a much lighter font stroke than the
32-bit version?

Is this normal?

Re: How does one detect that Cookies are disabled?

2018-06-06 Thread JOHN BAUGHMAN via 4D_Tech
Jim,

Dani Beaubien posted a link to a StachExchange thread that included the
following javascript…

if (navigator.cookieEnabled)
  {document.write("Cookies Enabled");
} else
 {documentwrite("Oops Cookies Not Enabled");
}

I tried navigator.cookieEnabled in my test Xojo web app and it works
perfectly. No reason it should not work anywhere you can execute javascript 4D
or otherwise.

Thanks to Dani, I hope this helps.

John

Have you looked at "Design -> Database Settings -> Database -> Temporary Folder
Location”?

Is the "Temporary File Location" set to the “Resources” folder?

Might have to do with how High Sierra is putting Apps in a sandbox if they are
not in the Applications directory.
I had something similar happen a while ago. I don´t remember the details but if
you download 4D in a directory that belongs to a "normal" user you can start it
like before, but the OS is putting it in a sandbox directory with a random name
like 07B29AA87F90481387491D4EEF206BB6.
So if you use commands like Get 4D folder it does not return the folder where
you THINK that 4D is located but the name of the random sandbox folder.

If you move 4D into the application folder you are asked to authorize with your
admin password and the OS removes that quarantine-bit (or whatever it uses to
mark the app). So from then on everything works as expected even when you the
copy 4D from the applications folder to any other place.

As I said, my memory is a bit vague but I think your problem might be connected
to this behavior of macOS.

Greetings from Germany,
Bernd Fröhlich
