Morning All Just a quick mention, this Wednesday is the monthly AberdeenPHP meetup. Normal time and place. 6.30, Wednesday at FifthRing on Huntly Street.
This week's talk is about Docker, by David McKay. So it's not actually about PHP at all. For those who've not come across it, Docker is a cool sort of system for rolling and managing thin VMs and environments. It's great for development, devops, continuous integration and continuous development stuff. The official blurb probably explains it better... *Docker, the hottest technology around at the moment. It swept the Ops world by storm in 2014, became mainstream in 2015, and now it’s set to dominate the developer world, in 2016.* * Docker is a tool that allows you to package your application up into a single-runnable distributable binary – akin to the phar, but in Hulk mode. Docker allows you, a developer, to specify the exact environment your application needs to run, across development; test; staging; and production. In this talk I will cover the creation of this utopian distributable and show you how to can compose your entire production infrastructure locally with only a small YAML file and without installing a single thing. Lets say hello, to Docker.* *Followed by the usual chat about web development and life over a beer and some pizza!* Refs and links... http://aberdeenphp.co.uk/event/lets-say-hello-to-docker/ https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/aberdeen-php-tickets-20829612933 https://www.docker.com/what-docker https://www.docker.com/ https://twitter.com/rawkode https://github.com/rawkode http://www.rawkode.com/ See you there :) -- Andy Gaskell Head Developer Software Systems: Open For Business Email: a...@ssofb.co.uk Web: http://www.ssofb.co.uk Mobile: 07745 924 449 Office: 01224 312857 Skype: andy_at_ssofb LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/agaskell Office: 40 Raeden Park Road, Aberdeen, AB15 5LQ.
