Ah if you meant fxo cards (pstn to voip) as I suspect, then good usb
options still exist but are more expensive (£100 and upwards) and are not
open hardware afaik.

the using our POTS line so it can recieve calls will require an FXS card. I
don't believe that either the WD box, the Synology or the Pi would be

[57north-discuss] Saturday hacking

2015-01-24 Thread Iain R. Learmonth
Hi,

I'll be in the space shortly for some Asterisk hacking and being angry at
things, including but not limited to, the Counter Terrorism Bill.

Feel free to come along and help out with the Asterisk hacking. I have no
idea what I'm doing for the most part, so this could be a nice learning
experience. We will likely throw this prototype away later when we move it
to better hardware so it doesn't matter if we make a mess of it.

Iain.

Re: [57north-discuss] Saturday hacking

Aye, was wondering about that.

The open usb fxs has progressed nicely. The board is recognized by Asterisk
as a Dahdi device as any pci fxs card would be.

Not sure in costs, but it was ment to be cheap.

Cheers,
Ed

For FXO we don't need them to be USB. Cheap Linksys SIP ATAs are available
and will work fine. It's the FXS that is the problem, to allow incoming
calls from the PSTN.
