I am landing in the space from 5:30 to continue packing and labelling
boxes. I will visit the EngageSpace around 7 for about half an hour
then return to the current space until 9ish this evening.

Company welcome :)

Cheers,

2018-05-18 Thread Hibby
Morning team!

Thanks Tom, that sounds pretty useful!

We managed to get the EngageSpace (working title) cleared out nicely last night
- we've kept around 20 chairs to serve as chairs for workstations and other
areas, and Doc, Ed & I had a good long thing about furniture layout and areas.
Those should hopefully be drawn up and sent to the list soon along with an
email begging for hardware, time and probably money.

At 35a, we reckon we've managed to pack about 50% of the 'loose goods' and
we've dismantled a standing desk. There's still lots to be done there, and it'd
be great if we could get together and do more work there this weekend!
As I'm not around for most of it, I'll let others do the email to the list to
define times and activities, but it will be putting things in boxes and
unscrewing the remaining standing desk.
We also need to start moving our packed boxes to the EngageSpace.

It's our goal to be completely out of 35a by the end of May, and over the month
of June work together to build out, paint, decorate and organise the new space!
You can see the ideas, timelines and key areas we're working on the wiki here:
https://wiki.57north.org.uk/index.php/EngageSpace

It would be really helpful if we could get some more members on point to help
run some of the moving related activities.
Currently we have:

Doc - plasterboard & building fitout/furniture build / shelving build and space
electrics
Ed - Clearout of 35a and Moving
Peter - doors & access control
irl - lighting of EngageSpace
hibby - Networking

Doc could use some hands to help and some brains to work with on designing and
fitting out the area, and we need all the bodies we can get to help move things
and install things. It'd be great if someone could help catalogue our tools and
organise them into our new space's tool storage area, and we also need a museum
curator!

I will be doing network stuff when I return from the US (End of june), but if
someone wants to do wiring and things, that would be very helpful and maybe get
us up and running a little quicker.

cheers,
hx

In this vein we have here (erg uoa) a pack (4 pieces) of 1800x44x44mm
planed smooth whitewood that Rob bought many years ago that could do
with going away.

Hello All,

I'll be dropping off about 6 large packing boxes to Union St this morning for
use, if we think we need more give me a shout.

I'll be at the engage space from about lunchtime, I'll be measuring the
upstairs and calculating building materials.

Thanks Andy for the list or materials, I'll get my list made up tomorrow morn,
to everyone else, A list of things to say if you have,

* MDF
* Plasterboard
* Thick Waterproofing Sheet
* Timber for Studs/Shelving
* Concrete mix.
* 2.5 twin and earth.
* Electrical Conduit
* Electrical Double Sockets.

And anything else you think would be usefull.

Doc.

Re: [57north-discuss] SpaceClean - Part 1

2018-05-16 Thread Andy Gaskell
Hiya

Will try get down tommrow, though it'll probably be later on, as I've got
to go to a concert at school. I should be able to do a few days and/or
evenings next week.

I was having a look at furniture and materials here, that might be useful
for the old / new space.

Materials...
- MDF sheets, 19mm thick and 240mm deep, in the following lengths
-- 850 mm long - 8 of
-- 1030 mm long - 5 of
-- 2400 mm long - 1 of
- Plywood, 1200 x 2400 x 10mm - 1 of
- Plywood, 1430 x 540 x 10mm - 2 of
- Plywood, 1520 x 250 x 8 mm - 1 of
- Pine, 2400 x 119 x18 mm - 1 of
- Pine, 1200 x 119 x18 mm - 1 of
- Kingspan insulation sheets, about 900 x 600 x 100 mm, 2 of

Furniture...
- Ikea office chair, a "snille" swivel chair, white
- Pine dining table, 125cm x 80 cm. Perhaps as a replacement table in the
old space, if we need one
- White pine side table, 75cm x 54cm
- Ikea red floating shelf, 110cm x 26cm, a "lack" with a fitting bracket
that screws into the wall

I'm not sure what furniture will be useful.

With the wood, there is probably enough for a few sets of shelves, which
I'd be happy to put together in the new space, if that'd be useful. It's
not much kingspan, but it may be useful for insulating the outside wall,
depnding how flat the wall is, I guess if it's pretty uneven rockwool might
be a better option.

Cheers
