Re: [6lo] New Version Notification for draft-ietf-6lo-path-aware-semantic-addressing-01.txt

2023-05-30 Thread Pascal Thubert (pthubert)
Hello Luigi:

I was thinking; maybe we can use the I-Field defined in RFC 8505. It signals
what the opaque field is about, see fig 1 of RFC 8505.
So if we pick one value of the I-Field (say I=1) to mean PASA, we have the
whole opaque field to indicate whatever PASA needs to pass.
OTOH, if we do not need 8 bies, then we can define I=1 to "more flags", in
which case the Opaque can be a extended bit field of 8 bits.
So what do we need exactly?

All the best

Pascal

Re: [6lo] New Version Notification for draft-ietf-6lo-path-aware-semantic-addressing-01.txt

2023-05-24 Thread Luigi IANNONE
Hi Pascal,

I hear you.
I just moved the bits to avoid direct conflict with your drafts.
This revision focuses on the security consideration part and I invite folks to
send feedback on that part.

Future revisions will tackle the EARO bits part.

Ciao

L.

Re: [6lo] New Version Notification for draft-ietf-6lo-path-aware-semantic-addressing-01.txt

2023-05-23 Thread Pascal Thubert (pthubert)
Hello Luigi:

I see that you moved the EARO bits. But moving, or even reducing to one bit,
will not work. EARO is aiming at applicability to all types of environments,
and PASA is a very specific tech. Considering that we are really running out of
bits, we have to find something else.

All the best;

Pascal
